Hi all. Long time, first time.
I bought my 2022 XLT last October and have been visiting the forum since shortly thereafter.
After reading lots of posts about performance tunes and fixes for the dreaded shudder at takeoff, I pulled the trigger on the Ford Performance tune and a Tom Woods custom driveshaft.
I couldn't be happier with both choices. I'll repeat what others have said... this is how the truck should have come from the factory.
The performance tune has greatly improved the throttle response and shift points, making it much more fun to drive. It's not perfect. I do still get the low rpm "lug" on some inclines, but much less so than before the tune. And even with the tune there's still that hint of turbo lag. But overall I'm very happy I did it.
I'm even happier with the driveshaft from Tom Woods. It has completely changed the truck. All the shudder/vibration I felt when starting from a stop is completely gone. The truck drives so much smoother and is so much more enjoyable to drive. If I could only pick either the performance tune or the new driveshaft, I would pick the TW driveshaft without hesitation. If you're like me, going through the forum looking for ways to make your truck better, or even thinking of trading in because you don't want to live with that two-piece shudder, I highly recommend pulling the trigger on the TW driveshaft. You will not regret it. And Shawn from TW is super helpful and took the time to answer all of my questions. Again, can't recommend them enough.
So that's it. If you're out there on the fence about either of these upgrades, hopefully this helps.
Take care,
Chris
