Does the bumper or steel scratch guard have to come off- or can you pull them just by removing the bolts?

(Answering own question...)

Definitely looks like the scratch plate and plastic cover gotta come off.
Does look simple enough though.

Disregard the dirt.

Here are some pics of the tow hooks painted International Harvester Red which is a deeper red than a candy color. It’s Krylon Farm and Machinery paint from Walmart. I’m sure this would get scratched up immediately if I ever used my tow hooks but I don’t. On a non-fx4 model this only required removing 3 15mm bolts and a plastic skirt. Anyone could do it.

I saved $5G buying a 4X2 so in the unlikely event I end up in a ditch, I'm hoping you 4X4 guys will pull me out either forward or backward via this WARN 29312 Receiver Shackle Bracket (Clevis Hitch). I had it powder coated along with the 2 front tow recovery rings for $100 including labor. This clevis hitch makes a very effective rear bumper that protects your rear end if you get a little careless backing up or some idiot runs into you from behind. It only sticks out about 3 inches so you are less likely to bash your shins on this versus a trailer hitch that sticks out a lot further.

Did you paint the front rings blue as well? Have a pic? I have the same color scheme you do (blue with magnetic trim) and am curious about how different color rings look.

Dang, $109... Each!? Seems excessive, are they made of GT 350 crankshafts?
Exactly, whats the point? the OEM ones seem pretty solid...
The only think I'd consider it have my local LineX guy coat them..

It's for the pair. I bought mine from Steeda a few months ago for $87 shipped to my door.

Besides color, is there really any difference compared to the standard tow hooks?

Not hating on you guys who have more disposable dollars than me...
My LineX guy just texted me back and $30 for the pair if I take them off and carry in/out. Probably the route I will go. :)

The tow hooks are different between the 2wd and 4wd models. If you have a 2wd and plan on swapping the skid plate from a 4wd, you'll need the 4wd tow hooks. The skid plate actually mounts to the tow hooks, not the bumper.
