They can eat a dick for $500. That's like $40 a bolt. I swear, dealers wonder why people talk bad about them. I'm not saying they should do it for free, but damn, its less than 10 min to do it with the trans drained.Quick followup...
Took the truck in for the prescribed transmission rebuild, got a call the next day, said they found "damage to the housing", but they said Ford approved a new transmission install under warranty (33k on truck). Supposedly, getting 'er back this week.
I bought the PPE pan ahead of time figureing it would be a good time to have it installed, along with a new filter, as long as they had the stock pan off for the rebuild. They told me no charge since it wouldn't be any extra labor than putting the old plastic one back on. The new trans won't need the pan removed so they asked if I still wanted the new pan installed for only $529 labor. I told them I'll wait until until the new one craps out and get it done then.![]()
New transmission comes full of fluid. Might have something to do with the cost. They can eat a dick for $500. That's like $40 a bolt. I swear, dealers wonder why people talk bad about them. I'm not saying they should do it for free, but damn, its less than 10 min to do it with the trans drained.

I have had an intermittent hard P-D and P-R shift since new (Feb 2019) and every time the dealer looked at it they would say "We updated the TCM and it stopped". It never stopped, and still does it now and then at 88K miles. I guess I should budget for a new transmission by 100K...Is there anything we can do? I really messed up! I noticed subtle issues while within warranty, but thought dealer would just say they can't replicate it.
After a few months the issues are noticable at every stop. Now I'm just out of warranty and have been told it will be $7.5k out of my pocket after some asssistance from Ford for a brand new transmission. I really am disappointed in this as the issue wasn't from anything I did and
completely a design failure and very common as we see people post daily.
I could've continued driving with the bucking issue but have seen some people mention that eventually they got stranded after a few months of the very bad bucking issue. I'm really mulling over the decision to just bite the bullet or just cut my losses on my 19 Lariat.
