800 grit wet sanding will get it smoothed out if you’re painting. Just bare plastic will look nasty once it weathers. So prep them all evenly and ether wrap, clear coat satin or paint your color of choice and clear coat. You could get away with graphene but that will require more attention over life cycle. Hope that helps.
Appreciate the help Rick. Looks like wet sanding might be the route to go. Not sure what I am going to do with them yet.. Plasti-dip with a clear coat/gloss enhancer, or the real way with paint. Might just be lazy here and go with tried and true, just worried rock chips messing it up quicker than anything else.

This might help if you want to try it out. It's for motorcycle plastic but still the same process.

Appreciate the link Dave. Will wait to hear from stage3 then decide what route to go. Also should take a picture of the box it was shipped in, it has a huge black rub mark on top of the package... I think that might be the culprit. Either way, I would still have to do some type of paint process on it whether it be legit or slapped together.

Think I will save Stage3 and myself the time shipping things back and forth if that was the case to happen. Decided on leaving as is and tossing 4 coats of plasti dip with a coat of gloss enhancer. Want more of a wet look instead of a matte black for this.

While I want these same flares and will run them through trails, I expect them to come perfect out of the box. Especially for the price you are paying for them. I’m a tad bit apprehensive in spending so much money on them if they come out looking this way.

Honestly if @Stage3Motorsports can't help here, I will either A) learn how to sand them and hopefully don't mess it up more B) slap plasti dip all over it.

As you can tell plasti dip is my remedy for a lot of aesthetic issues. Dave @AzScorpion has his 303 graphene and damper mascot, mine probably would be a vinyl stickered plasti dip bottle. Kind of like what the kids do with them hydro flasks these days.
Brandon, that fender flares will get scratch up after taking your rig to some of the off road trails here in SoCal.

Yeah, I think it’s a matter of getting lucky with the mail distributor treating your box right.

Hey Bladimir, I figured it will get messed up anyways, no point to send them back and forth and what not. At least with plasti dip I can always peel it off and respray if it gets scratched up. Save myself some time and money. Looks like getting them painted factory color would be anywhere between $400-600.

Will do, gonna see how 303 aerospace protectant works on it. Jeep forums says it renews the look. I had plasti dip on my wheels and emblems on my Mazda for four years. Held up well. For 5 cans(4 cans dip and 1 can glossifier) at $45 you can’t beat. Unfinished plastic will look bad anyways later as someone mentioned. A real paint job which can still be scratched up on things would be $400-800 in our area.

Hey Brandon - that sure is a lot of scuffing. Mine arrived in near perfect condition. Minor scuffs will “buff right out” with 303, Amor All, etc.

Keep in mind that the rubber peel and stick trim needs to adhere to your flares and that any protectant is likely to make that difficult, if not impossible. It’s a tough enough task without having that to deal with as well. You might want to hold off on the 303 until after you install them.

I also recommend washing them with dish soap and water and making sure they’re completely dry before installing the trim. Patience is your friend while installing that trim.

After they’re installed, they can be painted using the technique I told you about.

My personal opinion...since I am a poser with no cred, I would want my flares in pristine show room condition, to match my lifestyle.
However, if I was a backwoods hillbilly thrashing through the skeg, I wouldnt care how they look now, cuz they ain't gettin any better
True about the backwoods hillbilly part hah. I threw plasti dip on them for $45 and called it a day. Let them get messed up on the trails.

I would've went with Dukes suggestion. You could've spent $20.00 on a qt of paint, rolled it on and spent the rest on more stickers. ?

Heck, $15 if I just use my belly again. This smooth round beer belly surface leaves no scratches, better than chenille. Rolls the paint quite nice too.
