Parties are always better when the home owners aren't there?

What, no mention of AC/DC yet? Been to several of their concerts. Man did they rock!

Yes they did! I saw the Hells Bells concert in Hartford, CT and they were great. Angus Young never stops jumping and moving around the stage the whole show.

My wife is a Tull freak. We went to 6 Jethro Tull concerts over the years. About 5 years ago was the last one and he should have retired before that. He lost the high notes and was disappointing to me. My wife still loved it. I told her he is too old to rock & roll, but too young to die. She gave me the evil eye.
When younger I attended many great concerts at the New Haven Coliseum.
I had all the LED Zeppelin 8 tracks but they never played at the smaller venues I could get to.
Saw the Doobie Brothers at a free fair concert.
I have a box with over 100 old albums in the basement that I'm going to have to drag out and listen to someday

We use to go to every show within the tri - state area when younger. I've always loved Southern rock and just missed out on seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd before the plane crash in '77. I was only 13 and my parents wouldn't let me go to concerts yet but did get to see The Rossington Collins band which was better than nothing. I've seen ZZ Top (6 times) , Marshall Tucker, Pure Prairie League, Molly Hatchet and my all time favorite The Outlaws who I've seen 5 times. Twice we saw them at a small venue in West Hartford, CT called the Agora Ballroom. It was an old bowling alley covered into a bar that was built on an old landfill. It could hold about 1000 people so the shows were great and you were right up front with all the band members. Many top bands performed there like The Ramones, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie and even Aerosmith. You just don't get to see and hear music like that anymore.

Nobody has mentioned the awesome all-girl bands of the '80's. Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Vixen, Lita Ford (maybe not all-girl). But the women of rock were incredible. At my hometown's bicentennial a couple of years ago there was an all-girl '80's rock band that was absolutely awesome! They played all the great '80's women hits.

Yup, like all of them too but I just lumped all the 80's hairbands together. lol

The station I listen to the most on SiriusXM is Hair Nation followed by mostly Classic Rock stations with Turbo in there for when I really want to headbang.:rockon:

Love Hair Nation, although it can get a bit repetitive if you listen to it long enough. Among those you mentioned, I occasionally dial up Outlaw Country. I also like to break up long drives with the comedy channels. They keep you awake.

Belinda Carlisle looked good in her playboy shoot, Susanna Hoffs walked like an Egyptian and sang well, I saw neither , but I will always remember seeing Blondie pretty close to the stage in a 2400 seat arena back in 79. Debbie Harry was stunning and blondie overall were pretty good musicians. I read a review on blonde's recent tour and sadly the consensus was Deborah Harry should call it a career. She had a pretty heavy drug addiction back in the day which probably powered her performances.

Worked at merriweather post in the early 80s. Worked pretty much most concerts from 81/82 summer tours. Met pat benatar, Adrian belew( king crimson), Aldo nova...Have only paid for Styx, Elton John, metallica and j giels. J giels put on a heck of show...but Santana was the hands down the best show that I came across live. J giels though was surprisingly good. Ozzy was the only show that I worried for my personal safety(very wild crowd). Reo Speedwagon and Rick Springfield had the station wagons full of screaming 13y old girls...it was super annoying to work them.

This thread is bringing back a lot of memories and also many times when you remembered nothing. Lucky there was no cellphone videos back then. I am sure there would be some embarrassing moments for everyone?

Rush - saw them 2 nights in a row for the grace under pressure tour
Triumph - I was at the concert that that they filmed the Follow your heart video
Iron maiden - just saw them again last year
Social Distortion - just saw them again this past October
Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers - probably one of my favorites and such a great collection of tunes back into the 90s when they were The Replacements

Up and coming band to watch is The Southern River Band from Australia - great band with and 80s vibe and AC/DC influence.
