I would not count on dealerships doing much of anything right. They will replace a transmission under warranty because it the easiest thing to do..if it really just needs disassemby and repair. I believe FORD knows this and does not trust anyone taking apart these units.
Being told you need a 10K transmission and these guys fix it for< 1K would be a great move. Clearly these transmissions-like all- can fail badly, and if so will require replacement. But to me hearling from this shop (who I have used 30 years ago) and has excellent google reviews 4.7 stars with 600 reviews- I would most def. give them a shout. So glad there within 15 miles of me!
For $300.00 you can get 600 positive reviews that look legit. Don't believe everything Google feeds you.

right
everything is BS and over the course of 50 years proves NOTHING.
If you think AI reviews look legit..
I get offers all the time and know it is 100% true. I can buy Google reviews, youtube views and likes, website reviews and many more personalized approvals if I wanted to. All AI that look like the real thing. Don't believe everything you see on the internet. Money can buy anything online.

This! I bought a cordless vacuum on Amazon and it is really a great vacuum. But a few months later the company emailed me to review another one of their cordless Vacuums. I bought it and they'd reimburse me AFTER I left a 5 star review. I had nothing to loose because it was all within the 30 day return window for Amazon and they did PayPal me the money back within 2 days of the review going live. Since then I received 3 more emails from them for the same offer. They even said to give the info to friends and family which I did and they all got free ones. Now I have 3 cordless vacuums. lol

So yes, reviews are skewed and you have to be careful now.

You should start a youtube channel. Once I got over 100k subscribers I started getting close to 20 offers a day for videos, reviews, and ways to make your channel expand overnight with subscribers, reviews, and likes. Also lately witnessed how some companies delete bad reviews. Having many people think all reviews are legit is what fuels the problem. What AI can do is scary with the personal databases they're building.

They do mention the valve bodies at the 13:30 mark. He says they see everyone on the internet mention the valve bodies but he's never done one and he thinks it's not happening so you have to be careful what you read on the internet.

That's where they lost me because I remember you and others saying this have failed in several of them.
That's what I think is happening to my 2020. In cold weather, when I back out of my driveway and put it in gear it will just sit there. Then it eventually clunk heavily into 1st gear.

I get around it by putting my foot on the brake and cycling through some shift points ( R, D, P) and then it's usually fine. Whether it's slow moving "cold" fluid or sticking valves, it's still the valve body. IMO

Not my picture, but from a transmission builder I follow elsewhere:

And yes, I realize it is from a 10L(GM) and not a 10R..

"The aluminum these units shed is off the charts & It's so fine I don't think any filter media will trap it without causing a restriction.

Here's 10L80 separator plate, You can see all the aluminum debris, One of the screens got so loaded up it blew out."

I see the Super Duty 10 speeds are having similar problems. Starting to sound like 8 was enough and 10 was a fubar decision to try and meet government standards.
Ze German 8 is enough :) Germans can overcomplicate anything, but by all accounts the ZF8 is the transmission to beat.

The 8L GM's.....notsomuch

Wow, I don't know why I thought he was near San Diego at one point?

But PA makes more sense than CA with their legislation and taxes.

No telling...Their website is a disaster, so who knows if that is old, or if the CA address is old. Lol...

And their Yelp! ratings look bad unless you scrutinize the criticisms knowing that factory transmissions these days seem to be problematic - so a single component here and there might not fix the whole thing.

From other owners on this forum my take is that any pre-2023 10R80 that acts up or fails will need a total overhaul. That seems to be averaging eight grand?

So I ask myself would I pay that for my truck today since I already own it?

I hate being held hostage by shortcomings in production but after almost seven years of ownership and what I've upgraded/had fixed under warranty so far I would.

If you use Goggle and Yelp in the same sentence, you should know they are polar opposites.
yelp is all about buying good placement, Google is not. Here is a example: yelp will eliminate your 5 star reviews if you do not pay them- it is possible that they do not work like that any longer. Yelp finally gave up on me except for their once a year high power sales person attempting once again to convince me of their worth. Google will not operate like that. Furthermore it is illegal both in National law and in goggles by laws that any use of non original reviews can and will get you kicked of their platform. But clearly what do I know?- as I only have spent the last 20 years in very close considerations with both companys. Google means a great deal to me as real clients will contact you from their/your site. Yelp means next to nothing. Google has Add words, which is a worm hole, but being there as a paying customer does NOT influence the organic search, that I could ever prove. I do recognize there are people out there who know more about this than me. The very tricky part is they can and do change practices regularly, except for buying reviews which is NOT allowed.
