I sold my 2018 Escape after reading about chronic problems with coolant intrusion into the cylinders on the 1.5L EcoBoost4 (not the 2020 & newer 1.5L 3cyl). Those that are out of 5/60 factory warranty are paying $4-$9000 for a new short or long block.

Whether you buy a Ford plan or a third party extended warranty, It is always a good idea to buy it while the vehicle is new. They are cheaper than if you wait until either the 3/36 or 5/60 factory warranty runs out.
and remembe that you have 60 days to Get a full refund -- time to think about it..... and even after that, you can get a pro-rated refund. its a bet most will lose but some will "win" by guessing correctly and having a failure that the warranty covers - again most of us will lose but it gives me the peace of mind to keep my truck for several more years I went with the 8/100k $100 deductible one so hopefully Ill keep driving my truck for another 6 years with no worries about something major happening. - its a risk tolerance thing to me the $1100 is a worthwhile bet

I'm sure all it will take is to bring it in for 2 service repairs to pay for itself

Well….I have been debating and researching this topic for weeks now.
After MUCH thought I ‘think’ that I’ll be purchasing an extended warranty for my 19 from Flood before this years price increase on Jan 5.
I bought this truck in Dec 19 and only have 14k on it and figure when the factory warranty expires I’ll have less than 25k. I’m just a bit concerned with the low miles that something will surface once the factory warranty expires ( I know, it’s a crap shoot but one repair could be $$$) Haven’t had any real issues other than a Malfunction Indicator Lamp - electrical concern with number 4 fuel injector - which cleared itself. After reading through the forum I know there appears to be potential issues with some components (like hvac) and this has influenced my decision.
My plan is to keep Maggie for at least 4 more years as I have no real complaints that push me into the 6g any time soon.
Going with the 6 year/60k ($50 deductible) is $745. To me, that seems like inexpensive insurance in the event ‘something’ goes bad…..I was debating the 7 year/75k for $1285 but that jump of over $500 for another year just seems like too much.
With all the electronics and such I guess peace of mind for me is worth it….
I purchased a 7/75,000 with $200 deductible through Flood Ford. I got a PayPal notice but I never received a confirmation email from Flood though. I did check my junk folder. Anyone else have that issue?

I just found out that my GEIKO ins has MBI insurance (mechanical breakdown insurance) added into my premium. It’s basically an extended warranty program that’s 7 year / 100k. Roughly 17 bucks a month extra. Coverage isn’t bad. Plus if I sell the truck early, I’m not out the extra. So over the 7 years I’m looking at about $1500 (assuming the 17 bucks a month doesn’t change with the premium).

Everyone needs to do what helps them sleep at night. I am making this post just so folks are aware.

The reason that there are so many extended warranties being offered by so many outfits is they are extremely profitable. The reason they are so profitable is that they all cover the vehicle during the portion of it's life that statistically it is least likely to fail.

I have been an engineer for the past 45+ years and there is a phenomenon that governs the reliability of all manufactured products called the characteristic life cycle or "Bathtub Curve". This phenomenon states that the failure rate of new products starts out relatively high and then quickly goes down to a relatively low and constant rate failure and out in the future when the product starts to wear out the failure rate goes up, hence the term Bathtub Curve. Extended warranties cover the product during that low and constant failure rate portion of it's life.

Using this phenomenon to describe your cars reliability you are most likely to have a failure during the bumper to bumper portion of the warranty with the likely hood of a failure being very low during the powertrain portion of the warranty. This very low failure rate will stay constant until the vehicle starts wearing out, with a well maintained vehicle that is going to be out in the 200k mile range.

Personally in my 45+ years of buying new vehicles and keeping them for 7 to 10 years I have never had a failure that made me wish I had purchased an extended warranty.

call 'em --I got my confirmation of the order within about 2 minutes I seem to average about 10k a year so far but I went with the 8/100 giving me 6 more years coverage (its turning 2 in a couple of weeks) seems like a good price point and yea today (1/4/22) is the last day before the price increase

hey does anyone know for sure that using to ford app (lets you take photos of receipts showing purchase of oil / filters etc) to track my own maintenance is sufficient to protect our warranty???? I do make sure to take the photo showing the purchase but I do buy oil in the 5qt jugs so I always have leftover from prior since the truck takes about 6qts

As long as you use the proper oil, filter (OEM Specs) and fill it up correctly your totally fine to keep doing your own service.

what I was worried about is how to prove it if I ever have to file a claim with the extended warranty-- what proof is "enough" I always use motorcraft filters (dirt cheap at Walmart) and the ford blend oil - I change it about every 5-7k myself its just easier than paying 80 bucks and sitting at the dealer for 2+ hours for a job that takes me 30 minutes going slow. but I just dont get that nice dealership receipt when I do it myself

By uploading all your receipts and documenting the mileage is proof enough. Would be no different than if you took it to a quick change place (saving receipts) except you're not relying on someone else to do it the right way which unfortunately most don't.

The Discount code is for Zeigler.

After the discount is applied to the Zeigler price, it becomes the same as the normal Flood price.

The "payinfull" code has been active for a while now, not sure if it will be after tomorrow. The code only gives you the same price that Flood Ford sells theirs at so even if it doesn't Floods might be cheaper.

I was going to get one today but I'm going to wait until it gets closer to mine expiring in July. I'm just not sure on which one to get (mileage wise) as I don't drive many miles per year and when I get my Jeep that might dwindle down even more. The money I'll save by lowering the mileage would cover the cost of the increase.
