So I just got told by my Ford dealership that the Check Engine light and Code P0303 Cylinder #3 Misfire is way more serious than expected. Seems there is a coolant leak into the cylinder and I am told the engine will need to be replaced. Fortunately I have Mechanical Breakdown coverage on my auto insurance and hoping to confirm that this will be covered. Anyone else have this code/issue?
I really had a lot of confidence in this engine and this is the first real issue I have had with this truck.
Thoughts and comments on this would be great!!

That sucks. I assume a head gasket leak? Once you start getting coolant into a cylinder it cant compress and things get broken really quick.

They say gasket or cracked block. Teardown is happening now because the insurance wants to inspect of course!! Should no more soon. They are saying a new engine, but we will see I guess. And the day before I was driving on the Florida Turnpike and actually thought to myself, "Self, the truck is running really well today!!". Then the next morning when I started it it idled rough, then the Check Engine light!!

Jinx. A few weeks ago as I was mowing my lawn with my Toro Z, I thought to myself, "self, this has been a damn good mower. I have had it over 20 years with not much going wrong." A few minutes later a very large bolt fell off from the rear deck attachment. I couldn't back up without driving a deck brace into the ground. Had to finish going forward only.

I hope I’m wrong , but I will be surprised if your auto insurance doubles as a warranty on your engine. If it does, let us know who your insurer is and what that coverage costs, since those of us with an extended warranty paid a lot for it.

Some insurance companies sell an "extended warranty"... Its called mechanical breakdown coverage.

So, looks like Geico is going to cover the replacement engine under my Mechanical Failure Policy!!This has been quite the process, but they have done the right thing here. I am told I will be receiving a remanufactured engine to factory spec. Supposed to have a 3 year unlimited warranty.
Is there anything I should be looking out for, questions to be asked, or concerns to be expressed?

That's great to hear! Glad that Gecko took care of everything and you'll have peace of mind with a 3 year warranty.

Did they determine if it was a head gasket or cracked block?

Ask if it is a Ford certified reman as in what would be used if it was under factory warranty. Also tell shop not to have a caveman do the install as it is not that easy.

Our engine has an open deck design with the cut coolant passages fully surrounding the cylinder bores. I've seen cracks form in the cylinder walls in other open deck designs, granted, in my personal experience this is with sports car engines. Unfortunately I believe a cracked cylinder wall is always a possibility with this coolant passage design. Pic below (of our engine block,) for reference.
