Electrical issue

I went to start my truck, but nothing worked. No power at all. Neither key did anything, it was like the battery was dead. I hit the unlock on the ford pass app, the alarm sounded and everything went back to normal. Any idea what this could be?

Maybe the battery needs charged or replaced. Or, voodoo.

I thought I had a dead battery once. I disconnected it for 10 minutes and reconnected everything and it worked fine.

No real explanation as to why this happened. This was like a year ago. Battery is still fine to this day.

Through the various posts on this little phenomena- I believe it’s the PCM Power relay sticking- it’s strange that a no start condition and then wait 10 minutes then it starts with no issue, unlock with Ford Pass - cycled power across the relay

I don't know if this is why, but a few times I've lost my USBs, and I have to shut down and move the key fob away to let the truck go back to 'sleep' (keyless ignition) and then they come back alive.

Maybe somebody tried to steal the truck, and triggered the ignition disable? I don't know if this is even possible. Just spit-ballin' here...

I've had this happen a couple of times long ago...turn key and nothing...take key out and retry, starts ok...weird...

There's a thread on this somewhere where you get in the truck an nothing. No dash lights, dome light, key doesn't do anything. I think it was determined it was "deep sleep" mode. Mine finally came out of it. I think if it happens again I'll try the remote start on the app

Suggestion:
Pop the hood, check the battery voltage. If it is under 12.5 VDC I would almost guarantee you need to replace the battery.

That was my problem. Dash shutdown, engine shut off when driving down the freeway. Along with other anomalies. Hard to believe, but the Ranger is VERY sensitive too low voltage.
