Though it was on my 2012 Frontier, I figured the information should cross enough for you guys here.

For the longest time I have always been trying to find a good set of Brakes for my truck and I understand it's not always the easiest. Even I knew that the Frontier was always weird with the Brake Pedal Feel as if it never wanted to stop correctly. Thankfully the Ranger didn't quite have that issue(at least not like the Frontier). That said I finally found a good Brake Pad and Rotor Combination that works well for it and will probably work well for the Ranger.

That Pad and Rotor Combination is the EBC Ultimax 2 with Standard Rotors on all 4 corners. I don't care if it is the EBC Rotors or the Factory Motocraft Rotors as both will have great resistance to warping and cracking vs most aftermarket rotors.

Why the Ultimax 2? Well it claims to be a step above the OEM, but at the same time at a similar level of the OEM. From what I could tell it was more like the NAO Organic type that may have a semi-metallic base to it. It works very well in improving the overall bite when cold and should do well for most daily driving situations along with towing and OffRoad situations.

For the Rotors why not driller/dimpled with slots? Well when you look at brakes packages that have the slots or drilled/dimpled holes, you will find them to wear out brake pads much quicker. For myself I would rather have the extra longevity of the pads so I don't have to replace the pads near as often.

Now you might be asking what the part number is for the EBC Ultimax 2 pads with Rotors are right? Well I got you covered. For the 5th Gen Ranger that full kit for all four corners is going to be S20K2365. Simply plug that part number into google and choose your retailer.

Also I am aware on how much the Ranger doesn't go through Brakes even with the driving I did(I believe the brakes were still around 7-8 mm at 56,000 miles)

Appreciate the info. I just got done installing my eibach stage 2r kit. Next up are the brakes. They still look fine but it's getting there. I also plan on changing the fluid as well.

We used to run EBC brake pads on our motocross bikes. They were the go-to brand. Then,,, I bought their performance pads and slotted rotors for my '06 Roush Mustang. They lasted about 3 months before they were in the trash. The rotors were the worst. They warped, grooved, and cracked. I've been avoiding EBC ever since.

Keep certain things in mind about what you just said. A Rough Mustang that most likely was driven like it was stolen. Also you chose the slotted rotors. Those tend to eat through pads quickly. The warping and cracking along with the grooves were most likely due to the loose nut holding the wheel there.

Great timing Frenchy.. my brakes are getting there.
I would run ebc brakes and rotors on my motorcycles and they worked great. Happy to hear that they have a decent set for trucks.. I’ll be tucking this part number away till the time to replace them come up… I’m thinking around 75k is when I’ll be changing them.. I’d rather not run them all the way out before replacing them.
