If I have to, I may use E15 in an emergency but I sure won't be happy to do so.
Why would that be problematic for you?

I guess I can understand the wasteful aspect of corn subsidies for fuel aspect, but otherwise...

So much bad information here jeez.

E15 is common. You have likely put it in your vehicle (often) at some point over the last decade. It's not necessarily 15% ethanol. It's up to that amount. We switch to this higher blend about every summer.

Not likely a problem in a regular use modern vehicle. Could be problematic in lawn equipment and old cars with carburetors and not often used. Minor additional maintenance needed with it for these uses or if your vehicle is going to sit

This truck can't run E85 as built, but people have modified many vehicles for it. Often at least injectors need to be changed. (And to the guy who said no vehicles run on E85... what? Why would they sell it if no used it?)
I don't know how common E15 is nationwide, but it's so rare here in NC that I have yet to see it - I'm not looking or it anyway so that could be the reason. The Sheetz convenience store chain (newcomers out of Pennsylvania) carries E15 and advertises it as a 'high performance fuel'.

No Sheetz close to me and they can keep their 'high performance fuel'. No doubt some people will fall for the nonsense. Buc-ee's out of Texas is starting to make their presence known in the region - they advertise E0 motor fuels. Wondering when we'll see one...

Unless it was because of a fraudulent label at the pump. I have never put any fuel with more than E10 in my vehicles. If I have to, I may use E15 in an emergency but I sure won't be happy to do so.
I'm still wondering about the "So much bad information here jeez."

What he may have done is throw folks that drive older cars under the bus... Older cars have a tough time with E10. We tested various mixtures of Ethanol back when the carburetor was king. Interior damage to the carburetor was significant at about E15 and higher. Steel fuel tanks also had significant problems with long term use as I recall.

best,
Phil
I destroyed 3 carburetors and fuel lines on my 40 horse Yamaha outboard….with ethanol !

I don't know which was worse: Pigford or Cash for Clunkers....
It all fits together quite nicely. The push for electric, new cars getting more expensive, more intrusive and laden with "features" nobody wants like subscriptions and DWI testers means older cars which are immune to all that (and the chip shortage) are getting more attractive. So lets poison them all with ethanol. Much cheaper than a buyback.

There's plenty of oil if we would only go get it. There isn't a reason to burn our food in our gas tanks driving up the cost of groceries.

I fill my bike up with ethanol free gas the last tank or two of the year for storage reasons. Here it's 90 octane an about a buck more a gallon than premium. I will use it exclusively in my mower when I move an cut grass again.

E85 is higher octane but lower energy yield. I know a guy with a supercharged 5.0 coyote an the E85 tune has about 130 more HP to the ground than the 93 tune around 800 vs 670.

No car can run on 85% Ethanol, only 0-15%
Hi Wil,

wannna bet? I, at the time, launched the largest Flex Fuel vehicle production with the 3.0L Ranger in 1999. Every 3.0L Ranger was able to run everything from E0 through E85. When on E85, you could watch your fuel gauge drop like an anvil off a building. Air/fuel ratio for gasoline is 14:1, E85 is 8:1. Engines ran fine. I hated this program but the Federal Government gave fuel economy credits for flex fuel and we, Ford, played the game. About 135,000 vehicles a year for the Flex Fuel Ranger....

See a older Ranger with a Road & Leaf badge under the tailgate Ford Oval....it is a flex fuel vehicle.

Yeah Ethanol absorbs 50x more water than gas, bad for long term. And it's proven to be a death-knell for 2-stroke chainsaws.
