I am sure that I am missing something fairly simple, but none the less, I have missed it!
While backing my trailer, the driver alert is absolutely going insane thinking that I am going to run into the trailer. I have gone through the settings for the alerts and driver assist but have not been able to disable the alarm so I can back up without the truck being very annoying.
I hope someone can point me in the right direction to "fix" this.

@Grumpaw will most likely be able to answer your question as he is one of the more knowledgeable people here that tows a lot. Not sure what type or size of trailer you have. Did your truck come with the tow package or did you add a hitch afterwards?

Don't know all the details and making an assumption (and you know what that makes me ?).

Only thing I can think of; is the trailer connected to the truck and have you set up for the size of trailer you are towing or are you doing it without connecting to truck?

Edit: Didn't see @Dr_Strangelove post before I posted this.

That doesn't automatically stop when the trailer electric plug is connected? Pretty sure mine did, maybe not, I don't back up a lot.

You haven't said whether you have the Trailer lights plugged in while backing up. With the trailer lights plugged in the truck should recognize the trailer and disable the rear parking sensors and the cross traffic alarms. It will give you an warning in the dash display that this has happened, that you have to clear. If this is not happening and your trailer lights are working properly then there is something wrong with you trailer module that needs to be checked out. If your lights are not working then your trailer wiring needs to be checked out.

Thank you all! My Ranger does have the towing package and the trailer that I was pulling was my 16' car hauler. The one thing that I did not do while pulling the trailer was plug in the electrical cable. I was working on my property and didn't need to go out on the road. Never even gave it a second thought that the cable needed plugged in to disable that alert! Well, I knew that it was something simple that I was missing, now I feel really dumb!!

I had the same dilemma. Just activated the trailer button ahead of my shifter on the console. Magic!

Mine recognized a trailer (and asked me what size) as soon as I connected it ...
Mine too. I don't get any alerts when backing to hook up or when backing the trailer. Soon as I get near the trailer to hook up, those guidance colored lines appear on my screen.

Had the same problem. Looked all through the OM. Nothing. Nada

But the middle button on the bottom row in front of the shifter is the Parking Alarm Disable. On/Off.

We attach a bike rack in the trailer hitch to carry our bicycles. The Alarm was on constantly when in Reverse.
I pressed the button and like magic the alarm was quieted. On/Off works every time now.
