That's great to know. I had one on a previous vehicle and loved it. Do you if it is something I could install and program myself, or does it have to be dealer installed? I see the keypad for about $100, but fear how much the dealer may charge for install.
You can also instal it inside the fuel door if you don't want it on the outside. I don't have one on my Ranger but might get it for my Bronco if it fits.

As for not trusting the Ford Pass app ... I'm there. I've had some instances where I've lost a fob (Other Vehicles) on a trip and it's a pain. Had to wait in a hotel room until my spare fob was overnighted to me on one such occasion.

What I do now, and have done for the Ranger, I purchased a "used" oem fob (there are people on eBay that buy them from wrecked vehicles clear the programing and put a new key in them), have it programmed and have the key cut. I then put it and the battery, removed in a water tight bag and hide it inside the vehicle. In an emergency, I could call someone to slim Jim the door and I'd be on my way.

The gal I use to program the fob suggested I cut a door key and keep it in my wallet. I did and it works great. I tested this all in my driveway with the other two fobs in the house. Worked great. As a side note, the horn does sound ... I tested this at 6am on a Sunday. My neighbors were not happy ....

I've said in previous threads that I've trusted the FordPass app to the point I was at the bar, shopping etc. and the app locked the vehicle no problem and when I cam out a short time later the app was not functioning, off line for whatever reason and kinda screw'd me. Three times I just did not want to carry the fob in 1.5 years and had to go home by other means uber, neighbor, son to get my spare fob. NEVER again, not trusting it.
Was telling the wife it would be neat to have a card in my wallet that would do this but thought it might not be a good idea to not have the key incase. Now if you put a fob in something like the hitch safe you'd be covered.

In forscan I see options for programming the keypad, and I also see “phone as key” in there as well. That doesn’t mean it works, but it’s at least a start.
