Markup, material Used, where it’s made. That’s usually why there is a price difference

Why do the Diff covers look so different and the price difference shouldn't be that far apart. Just looking at the G2, ARB, AFE

I like that metal cloak one. It seems like it leaves some of the cover exposed though. Almost like it needs to extend more towards the back.

I'm typically not a Rough Country fan but I have the diff cover and am pretty confident on it. It's something simple and super sturdy. A hybrid of the RC coverage and thickness and Metal Cloak mounting would be perfect.

I know that not all RC stuff is bad but I tend to avoid that company completely. Glad to hear though that thier diff cover works for you. ?

Has anyone here experienced an OEM Dana diff cover failing under any condition?

It’s toast if a rock catches the bottom lip of it. It’s just pressed steel.

Back to my Q... experience of failure or damage?

Ive done many black diamond level jeep trails in California granite and experienced hundreds of scrapes hits and starbursts on the undercarriage caused by driving in and on rocks. Front or rear Dana OEM diff covers never even leaked or dented. In my experience the iron mass of the bottom facing portion of the diff takes the hit.

Im not saying there are not benefits of aftermaket.. like axle ridgidity, impact strength, easier to drain when they include a port ect..

My intent is to learn how many people have experienced damage and to think about the WHY of using such a product..

I have put them on my previous jeeps for 2 reasons.
1. Prevent future failure (never had a failure with a factory cover)
2. After you lift the jeep the rear diff becomes more visible and who does not like a little eye candy!

It’s probably a relocation bracket for the small difference in ride height compared to an FX 4. I have a 3.5 front/1.5 rear lift on my FX4 and didn’t need to relocate anything in the rear. Tremor isn’t that different but some owners think that it’s as drastic of a change as a raptor. ??‍♂
I would love the factory raptor rear coil and link setup.

Also the rear of the case will get damaged wheelin. Scraped away.

I think it was Wayalife's JK that was scraped so badly on the bottom of the case, that it wore into the drain plug.

So yeah. Rock hits the stock cover, you are going to have a bad day.

Then longer term damage to the bottom of the housing.

Sorry to dig this thread back up, but has anyone successfully installed the Ford Performance Diff Cover (Part Number: M-4033-R) on their Tremor? Like others, I am planning on changing the Diff Fluid, and wanted to upgrade the cover at the same time. My local dealership said they won't touch it.
