I'm installing a trailer brake controller and a set of Amp research power steps. I saw these taps (the connected ones) behind the OBD2 port when I was putting in my taps (the ones that aren't yet connected) for the power steps. Anyone have an idea of what they're for?

Did you buy your truck used? Those do not look factory to me. Looks like a previous owner removed some things he added.

All the pic shows is that - Someone (Added/Tapped) for Power & Ground for something, you will have to attempt to follow wire routing to see where it goes.
It may be also a dealer add for - Low Jack - Tracking Device, which if installed would be mounted in the spot where you are mounting the TBC.
It is not a factory - Install.
Good Luck on the Hunt for what it was or is (if still installed)

When members find such things, it’s usually been something the dealer did (alarm, low jack, etc.) and it’s usually vey messy. This looks too clean - like something an owner might have done.

Wouldn’t be ironic if the previous owner removed their AMP Research Power Steps before selling it. ?

Very ironic! It's an Alaska truck that I got a couple of months ago in Colorado. The only accessory that I know it has from factory is a block heater but I can't see why that would be wired into the OBD2 port.

The Module in the Pic is the (GWM) - Gateway Module
It's hard to tell from the pic - what power they are tapping (Pin #13 or Pin #24)

If the tapped wire is on the end of the connector (matching) the Ground Tap (opposite side)
Then it is tapped into Pin # 13 - White/Red, this is a 10 Amp circuit and is the DLC connector power (Front Side) of the Module (Pin #16) - BCM Fuse # 15
Power Circuit comes off the Main BCM Fuse (125-Amp)

If this is tapped at the other Power Source - Pin #24 Grey/Red then this is a 7.5 Amp fused circuit - BCM Fuse #13 and this powers the IPC, SCCM and the GWM, no power run to the (DLC Connector) itself so as far as this connector its only powering the GWM.
Power Circuit comes off of the DC/DC converter which is Fused for (50-Amps)

I know it does not help in ident of what was/is tapped, and the only way to know is to follow the added harness.
