Good Morning Derrick....was wondering if you could provide a photo or two of this mod you performed. I have the exact same issue and it sounds fairly simple. FYI.......nice Ranger! Mine has only 600 miles on it. Thanks in advance!
Are you asking about the crash bars or the valance that had to be removed? I have photos of the bars I swapped out but didnt take any of the valance. Well I did, but I cant find them lol

As I mentioned though it will take some pulling, but if you do it straight and not at an angle, you wont break anything. I replaced all my clips with better clips anyways. They slide on very easy but do not come back off. I ordered them from amazon. Well worth it.

I realize that I’m resurrecting an old thread, but I’m curious: What clips did you order from Amazon? Do you have a link?

anyone know which aftermarket crash bars are the strongest and also allow more clearance? i know 3 or 4 different ones are on the market. im not a no crash bar kind of guy. i figure if i have them ill never need them. if i just remove them i will wish i left them in.

Hey Mark,

I’m not sure which are strongest but I did look into this before I bought mine.

It looks like the Fabtechs might be the strongest, simply based on how they’re constructed. However, their clearance doesn’t appear to be the best, especially closer to the frame mounts. Their installation is also a PITA.

BDS crash bars seem to have decent clearance but appear to be much smaller than OEM bars, which, to me suggests they might be weaker.

ReadyLIFT bars seem to offer the best clearance with a very strong design that includes an extra centre “rib” for rigidity.

The ReadyLIFT beams are super beefy - 3/16” thick and the centre “rib” is 1/4” thick. They’re made of a different kind of steel than the OEM crash bars - I don’t recall if it’s a stronger steel or not but I gave a forum member some drawings and measurements from the ones I bought - he made some CAD models for FEA testing and they were strong but did not perform as well as OEM - almost, but not quite. They failed where we expected, based on their design but there’s no way to know if they failed before or after any kind of safety benchmark.

I hope this helps.

Idk if anyone even tried to pull the front rears out before cutting them?
But I did. You only need about 2 mm to get them out.
There's absolutely no reason to have to cut them!
A small tap of the hammer and you got enough clearance. Threw a rag over it, tap, tap. Slid right out. If you need to you can take a pair of pliers and bend that little flange back if you want. I didn't cuz its actually flush with the body now.
Just check before you start hacking s**t up! Now I also have the the factory bars sitting in my garage if I ever need them.

That's what I said...all four bars can be removed without cutting...

Yea I guess I don’t understand how you guys did any of that. I’ve been out here for an hour and can’t get the front trim off (clips won’t budge) or move the bars forward or any direction for that matter. The end of bar Keeps getting caught

image.jpg
Loosen the front bumper bolts enough to rock one side out enough to slide bar out...rock the other way for the other side...

The bars are there for reason.
Yes but even Ford removes them on certain models. I don't know if the Ranger Tremor has them or not but they are removed from Bronco's and F150's for raptor an sasquatch models. Kinda makes me wonder if the bigger beefier tires dissipate more energy in a crash or if the limited models aren't tested and don't affect their safety rating. I thought these are a fairly new safety device only added when they started doing the offset front collision test.

I'd like to see a back to back test.

I would assume they would need to be tested but I am not willing to chance it when my family rides in the truck with me. if it was just me then maybe

Correct...150 Raptor do not have them...I guess they're accounting for the beefier tires to serve as crash deflectors lol...that's what I'm doing...
