Has anyone done a cat delete?

If so, I'd appreciate any positive/negative input. I know it will create a check engine light so does anyone know if a regular OBD scanner can remove that, or Forscan?

I've done it, honestly, I love the extra exhaust flow BUT, and this is a BIG BUT!! It's INSANELY LOUD!! If you decide to go this route, be sure to take the extra steps to muffle it properly or else it will sound absolutely awful! I have a 26" glasspack and an 18" resonator, all 3" piping and it's still really loud, I might add another resonator at the very end of my setup to get a little deeper tone. I would HIGHLY advise that you also use header wrap on whatever catless downpipe you end up getting. I have the aFe Twisted Steel Stainless Race downpipe and I absolutely love it. That said, it has no heat shielding whatsoever so it makes the exhaust note very raspy, from my understanding, wrapping the downpipe with header wrap both helps with heat obviously, and also helps muffle some of the sound that bounces around after the turbo. I made the mistake of not wrapping it before installing so now I have to pull it back out to wrap it. I can't personally attest to how the header wrap affects the sound because I haven't done it yet, but tomorrow I'm pulling it all back apart to wrap the downpipe and add an additional resonator at the exit so I'll report back here with the results and a video of the before and after of how it sounds, along with some pictures for you if that helps.

I'll post some pictures of my stock downpipe and my catless pipe from when I did my install. Which, by the way, removing the stock downpipe is an absolute PAIN IN THE ASS!! The stock downpipe is absolutely massive, heavy, and a bitch to fish out of the tight work space but it can totally be done. The hardest part is getting to the top two bolts on the turbo mating flange. If I can make a suggestion that would have helped me immensely would be to remove the airbox entirely to have better access to the top bolts from the topside of the engine bay. I ended up doing it with a combination of 15mm ratcheting box end wrenches and deepwell 15mm sockets from below, above, and from the side through the fender well. It's seriously a pain in the ass but well worth a few hours of your time if that's the route you want to go. But hey, that's my two cents!

If you have time to snap a general photo or 2 that would be great - but no worries if you can't!

Thanks!

HOLY SHEEP SHIT, what a day!! First off, let me warn you, USE GLOVES AND WARM UP THE DOWNPIPE!! Also use penetrating fluid! I made the mistake today of trying to take the nuts off while it was cool, not my brightest idea ? I ended up stripping two studs getting my downpipe back off and having to not only replace the studs, but also chase the threads in the turbo to get the new studs in. What a pain in the ass today has been!

I'm almost done but I'm calling it a day as I've run out of daylight lol. I got the downpipe out, wrapped, new studs, chased threads, and put all back together. Now I've just got to put my exhaust back on and she's all done. I took a crapload of pictures with the downpipe off to give you an idea of what it looks like. Just for shits and giggles I'll post pictures of my blunder so you can all laugh at my misfortune haha. I'd have been done in about 2 hours total if not for the blunder if that gives you an idea of time.

Thanks a million for the pics, and for all the shared info!

Sucks you ran into issues but it sounds like tomorrow's finish will be much smoother!

No worries man, better it happens to me than anyone else! At any rate, tomorrow should go pretty smooth. Just have to hook up my exhaust and re weld the hanger, been needing to do that for a while anyways since it hangs lower than I want it to. I might end up adding that extra resonator to it too since I've got it lying around anyways and I want a deeper tone.
