I will try this update tomorrow and report back. Its so annoying having to unplug my phone anytime I get a call !!!!
I updated and no change. Called my buddy and asked if he could hear me and his reply was "Hang on I can't really hear ya"

I'm on Sync 3, version 3.4, build 21194. When I call someone they still have to turn their phone all the way up to hear me... though now I don't have to shout at the microphone. So it's *maybe* an improvement?

Still no real fix for this two years later? Crazy. I've only had a couple calls while driving so far but one today was with a client and it was annoying to have to unplug my phone while driving and switch to speaker to fix in the moment.

I encountered this in my truck recently. Wife was driving it for a few weeks while Hyundai was replacing the engine under warranty. Every so often when she called me I could barely hear her. She has a 12 Pro Max where I have the 13 PM. Same iOS version 15.3 on both phones. It really acts like the phone wasn't passing over the mic to the truck at connection instead using the phone's mic instead. So far to date no one has stated that they couldn't hear me or the mic was too quiet when I have mine synced in Carplay.

Makes me wonder if it's a permissions issue between Carplay and the phone or something with certain models of phones.

It's an intermittent or random problem? You might try deleting her phone from the truck, and the truck from the phone in Bluetooth and re-pair it. The phone's contacts and settings are configurable from the Sync3 Phone Settings. Also in the iPhone's Bluetooth settings check that the Device Type is either Car Stereo or Other.

I might do that and see if it changes anything. We got her car back on Saturday so she's back to driving that and chances are won't be using mine for the foreseeable future.

It's a pretty common issue with Carplay. My girlfriend's Subaru has had the issue since the day it came off the truck at the dealership. Two head units later and still the same issue four years later.

It’s not a Bluetooth issue. It only happens when using Apple CarPlay which requires a USB connection.

I'm not sure that it is in the Apple CarPlay section of the infotainment. AFIK, a phone must be paired via Bluetooth to work through the vehicle's audio, whether there is ACP/Android available or not. I have never tried to use the phone with the Bluetooth un-paired and only the usb connection.

My bluetooth calls stoped having sound about 6 months ago. Cant resolve it after change of phones and several other tries. Streaming music no problem, just cant use it for phone calls.

LOOK HERE...
That's interesting...so maybe the culprit is the phone's volume control...the video clearly states that the phone's volume needs first to be TURN UP...thanks I'll have to give this a go...

No and I tried the volume and every other setting i could find. I can answer the call but it doesn't ring out the speakers and there is no sound when i answer. I factory reset the radio and updated, after i got the boop boop boop from typing a text so i thought i fixed it but nope. Now it doesn't do text sound either.

I think it's time to get it to the dealer. Whatever it is, It should be covered under the 3yr/36Kmi warranty,
