Do you have an issue with the mic volume inSweet, I was just planning on updating it but I’ll guess Ill wait now, not sure how long I can wait, hopefully it’s not more than a month.
https://cyanlabs.net/applications/ford-sync-downloader/I am new here and stumbled on this thread. Thanks for all that have brought this up. My wife has been complaining and I thought it was the mic but yes after testing it is carplay for me as well. I tried to search on my own how to grab 19101 but I can’t see how to get older versions. It just tells me I am up to date. Is there a place to download older software versions. If it fixes CarPlay issues I‘m good with downgrading for now. Where can I find 19101? Sorry if missed something obvious.
Ok so you don’t have to necessarily download the build itself. It does it all for you? On a side note I took the truck in and they upgraded it to the latest build but obviously no change in call quality but they logged a case with Ford. Not sure if that will produce anything down the road though. The update on my end showed it had the latest but the shop said I didn’t have the latest so I guess the updaters in the trucks don’t grab the latest for some reason. Still didn’t help though. Thanks for the info on the tool.https://cyanlabs.net/applications/ford-sync-downloader/
I used this tool. It works very nicely but you might have to do it in two steps. I had to do the "Downgrade Package" first since my current build was too new. It downgraded me to 3.3. From there, you can upgrade to 3.4 Build 19101. Good luck!
The tool downloads it, copies it and I think (not 100% sure) formats it as well. Just in case, it can't hurt to format your usb drive to "exFAT" first. I downloaded the latest build from Ford and the mic still didn't pick up my voice very well. When talking on the phone, my girlfriend said I didn't sound as "far away" but that it was still very quiet. That's what prompted me to try using this tool to get build 19101. From what I'm seeing, 19101 is the latest build that works properly with Carplay's mic volume. The tool made me downgrade with the "downgrade package" first. I installed the downgrade on my truck using the usb stick. Then I went back to the computer, used the tool again to upgrade. It lets you pick what build you want to upgrade to. I selected 19101. It says to use a 32gb stick if you want maps, but I was able to use my 16gb stick and I got maps. I installed it on the truck and it works fine. You might see the "Lincoln: Black Label" start screen when it first boots back up, don't worry that's only temporary. After you turn your truck off and re-start it, It should change back to the default "Ford" screen. 19101 works great! My best friend said he couldn't even tell I was talking to him from my truck. The carplay mic issues are 100% a bug of the newer builds that Ford might fix in the future. Until then, 19101 will work great without losing any important features. I even still have the climate screen that people were mentioning losing. Good luck!Ok so you don’t have to necessarily download the build itself. It does it all for you? Thanks! I will look into doing this. You mention maps. I have yet to be able to see any kind of navigation aside from CarPlay (Apple Maps, google maps). Maybe I misunderstood. The truck has an option for built in maps in case you didn't use CarPlay or Android Auto. It would be on your Sync3 Home Screen if you had it. Since you use CarPlay, it's not extremely necessary to have. It is good for if you need to use maps and there's no cell signal but I suppose there's a way to download map data to store locally on your iPhone itself. The possibilities are endless! Thanks! Im doubting that will make a difference but I’ll be curious to hear your findings.Hi All,
I’ve still had zero luck improving the mic level but I ran across this thing and figured why not try it:
https://carplay2air.com/
maybe the different interface will make it work. After all, an android phone seems to work just fine. Who knows...
has anyone tried one of these yet?
You're right. there's no change using this thing at all. which on another note, is pretty cool. The wireless CarPlay functionality works pretty well. I'll absolutely keep using it.Im doubting that will make a difference but I’ll be curious to hear your findings.
Im still running 19101 and its been perfect.
So the microphone still sucks on carplay with that adapter? I was hoping that would fix it.You're right. there's no change using this thing at all. which on another note, is pretty cool. The wireless CarPlay functionality works pretty well. I'll absolutely keep using it.
considering it works perfectly over bluetooth it has to be something with carplay. I'm annoyed.Yep- that adapter made no difference at all.
I also downgraded my system back to 3.4.19101 as recommended further back in this thread. The downgrade went perfectly but I’m sorry to report that the issue is still there. I’m pretty sure it’s a software issue because if you hook up an android phone to android auto it works beautifully.
