Cap vs camper shell vs topper regional terminology

I’ve lived in Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Kelowna, Moncton, and on PEI. I’ve heard Topper, Cap, Canopy, Camper Shell, or just Shell. I’ve even heard folks say they got a Box for their truck.

Come to think of it, I’ve used all of those terms at least once but it’s usually Canopy for me.

Western PA and we call it a cap.
We also call Coke and Pepsi "pop" and not soda or soda pop.

I’m from all over, so I’ve pretty much heard it all, but I tend to use “shell” or “camper shell” most.

As far as drinks go, there’s only Coke…

I'm in NC and have always called it a "camper shell". I had a camper shell on my '90 Ranger many years ago. But, I've heard the other terms used, too.

California, Arizona and Washington state background. Camper shell. Never heard the words “cap” or topper” until I joined this forum.

Ps..If your camper shell is a cap, what do you wear on your head ?

Here in Alabama we also call it a camper shell. I was also wondering if people get confused when they call it a cap.

Camper shell. California. Coincidentally, the house is getting fumigated so I’m sleeping on a wooden bed with memory foam mattress I made for the truck. Beats paying for hotel and feels better than a couch.

Grew up in ft collins, co. Called them pops. Still do.
Now live in south texas, Brownsville area, and everything is a coke???!!!???
And its a camper shell.
