I hear it on my 2019 all the time. What’s your build date? I think the turbo whistle was decontented midway through 2021.
Have a '22 , plenty of whistle at idle.

Intake and blow off valve might get you what you want
this^

i use to own a 2019 si and with an intake it made it a lot louder

no blow off valve on that car it would damage the engine but these trucks from what ive seen have no issues with em

A friend of mine was taking a look at my Ranger ecoboost engine and pointed out the turbo recycles instead of having a blow off valve. Apparently, this would get the sound you are missing.

Well what I really had in mind was the turbo spooling and not so much the blow off valve. But our turbo is so small, I think it has to work pretty hard to detect the spooling sound.

Yeah this is possibly a stupid post I realize but I've always wanted a turbocharged vehicle largely for the cool sounds. Well imagine my surprise when I bought my first ever turbo truck here and I cant hear it at all. My dad had a '16 Expedition with a twin turbo 3.5L and those things whistled pretty loudly which I loved.

So, without doing major mods like intercooler pipes and stuff, is there something I can do to possibly hear the turbo a little bit? Just curious.

Thanks.
Maybe you can figure out to get this play on your radio:

The fan is pretty loud on these things so yeah they do drown out the turbo a bit when the engine is warmer. If you lay down the power you can definitely hear it with the radio off. Our trucks do have active noise canceling and that bs fake engine noise in the speakers so that may be hurting things but if you drive like we had previous era gas prices you will hear it lol. idk if you care what ppl outside hear but its definitely audible from the outside Ill attach a video of me climbing a deceptively sketchy hill back in the day. TBT stock ranger lol.

Never noticed it during engine breaking, i'll have to watch for that. But locking it into 9th gear on the highway with a heavy load definitely spins er up.
its just like shhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa doo doo doo doo. God I love turbos lol

Well good news. I heard the little snail under the hood on the way home when combining a steep mountain with S mode and the windows down. So, there's that. First time using sport mode and I must say I like it. What a difference.
You gotta be careful with s mode lol its very addictive but your wallet will file an injunction against you for using it a lot lol
