Okay, I love me new truck and enjoy learning all about it including the features on my FordPass thing on my phone. I've learned I can lock and unlock from my phone and even start the truck from my phone. I have experimented with all of this and have been successful.

My question.....I have my bluetooth turned off on my phone and my phones wifi turned off so how in the heck are the two communicating? I think it's cool as heck but for the life of me cant understand how it works.

Thanks from an older/non-techy Ranger owner.

Thanks much fellas. Just on more question-Will the truck cell connection last the life of the truck or is it temporary and then will require a fee later similar the the XM radio?

In's free for life and there's no fee unless you want to use it as a hotspot than there's a monthly fee for that. It does come with a free 3 month trial but I never activated it.

Daniel, that was a good question. I wondered the same thing until I learned from this forum that AT&T has a deal with Ford that provides the cellular connection at no charge to us Ranger owners. Keep hanging out here on this forum. Lots of nice folks and a great way to learn.

no one is being honest with you....

remember when you got bent over at the dealer and you felt that pain in yer arse that you thought was you getting ripped off over the final out the door price??
it was really the mechanic who slipped in behind and inserted/installed the Ford Microchip up your derrier, that will track your every move and it's linked to google, your emails, social websites, amazon and wayfair, so Ford will now know all of your personal habits.

magic.......It really is pretty much internet magic using a modem built into the truck with access for free as long as you own the truck (and its supported by ford) I was kinda iffy on using it but Ive been playing with it a little and starting my truck before I leave the building on the way out to the parking garage and you know what? I really like it. I also like being able to look at tire pressure and fuel level and remotely lock it if I think maybe I forgot to lock it. it really is an awesome feature! privacy???? I opted out of a few things but my thought is always that I am not interesting enough for someone to Bother with so Im going to use it.
congrats on the new truck! I love mine. The Ranger is much smaller and easier to park than my F150 was (loved that truck) .

I have a suspicion that somewhere in the ToS it states that this can change at any time at Fords discretion...

Maybe so but if/when that ever happens I'll just either delete the app or pull the plug to the modem. Problem solved. :like:

That is closer to the truth than you know.

I have earned points on service visits to the dealership. i get the Works package I earned points. but i also paid for the service via FordPass points so kinda funny how it works. I'm sure there is a dollar value for each point.

I believe the 42,000 points you get for purchase is equivalent to like $210 or something like that. So you can interpolate from there for what fraction of a cent each point is.
