I don't know how the paint is formulated, but in some light conditions, the color appears more mint-like. Maybe the clear coat or metallic layer is tinted.

I agree. There is definitely a green tint to it. Still not what I picture as “fighter jet”.

Makes sense to me. Mach 1's do battle on the track, Rangers ride around in the desert sand avoiding the cacti.
I agree with you as well. Just feel a little sorry for the guys in the Mustang when they find out the real name of the color is Cactus Gray! ?

Color names are fun to throw around but mean absolutely nothing in reality. All Mfgrs change and “update” color names all the time. Paint codes are All that matter.

But all of the other colors are named the same throughout Ford.
I'm not a pilot, but does an F33 Lightning have a greenish tint? maybe before getting the radar-absorbing paint:

I was an engineer in that factory. It is green, but not related to stealth coating. It's an undercoat, the F-16 was the same prior to finish paint application. Most new a/c will look the same prior to paint.

Put a nice little chip on the passenger side rear door with the latch hardware on my gate. Saw on this site someone recommending "drcolorchip.com" for touch up paint. On their website the appropriate color choice for my truck says "Fighter Jet Gray/Cactus Gray" (color code NE/M7457). "NE" is the correct color code for Cactus Gray.

Is Fighter Jet Gray the same as Cactus Gray? When I think of the new "Fighter Jet Gray" colors around, they don't seem to be the same as the Cactus Gray on my Ranger.

https://drcolorchip.com/product/basic-kit-touch-up-paint-chip-repair/

Any other recommendations for minor chip and scratch repair?
Did the same thing, could you tell me what you ended up using if you get chance?
