I'm confused, it appears the testing procedure occurred with the stock intake in place and the snorkel?

Right...they were testing all three configurations...both, stock intake only and snorkel only...that was a prototype...what happened to the test results? I can't find a follow up...☹

Also, I tried purchasing with two different CC yesterday and both were turned down (Payment authorization rejection from the processor)...not likely my CC...hoping things were shut down for Christmas Day...

I understand your concern with how they did the testing. One thing to consider is even if the original intake snorkel is blocked off still give a positive pressure affect because it is a true Ram Air. Because of that you still have a benefit versus the stock.

With that said between a RV to mishimoto they both have their pros and cons. A r b will most likely have better flow for the fact that it has a more direct path with the cost of drilling a giant hole in your fender. You don't have to drill a big hole in your fender on the outside but it might not have as much flow. It really comes down to which one do you prefer of the two

You are right about their differences...ARV is certainly a no compromise approach at the expense of bulk and cutting a big hole into the fender is a tough one to get over...even if I can swallow that commitment, it's a no go due the fact it will not play well with my AD fender flairs which already claimed space in that area...either way, a snorkel will take away MPG due to drag...

Looking forward to Mishi's response to the test results they conducted...

As I recall there was another member on here but that he got a two mile per gallon increase on average when the ARB snorkel installed. My guess is future positive-pressure it helps the engine out even though it is a turbocharged application. Also something else to consider is it's a true cold air intake still cooler air before the turbocharger help a cooler charge overall and therefore probably help with fuel mileage overall

My guess is that having two sources of air will probably be the most power . With the plug installed, probably be right around stock but you never know what the ram air effect could do. Either way heatsoaking is another factor When running back to back dyno runs. The turbo sounds amazing through the snorkel!!!

Very nice...will this be a purchase option or included with the kit?
At the moment, given the current timelines for everything, it's uncertain if we'll have them ready to ship out with our snorkel kits. We're working on some solutions to hopefully speed up the process, but in either case, we'll be sure that you guys get these plugs ASAP

I'm not understanding your question...I assume for flow gains, Mishi would say their box is better but the snorkel kit is separate of flow discussion...like talking down pipe versus exhaust pipe...

What was test results? ?
This is correct. In terms of only running the snorkel your choice of airbox shouldn't make much of a difference. For those who occasionally off-road, and would un-plug your intake while you're on road, that's a different story:

HIGHER PLANE – 2019+ FORD RANGER 2.3L ECOBOOST SNORKEL R&D, PART 4 – TESTING

We did leave you on a bit of a cliffhanger with our testing video, but the results are in, and our design performed exactly as intended in terms of maintaining power. As explained in the video, we tested our kit with the OEM airbox in three different configurations to get a complete perspective of the addition of the snorkel kit. With both the airbox inlet and snorkel open we measured a moderate increase in power, primarily in torque (we noted about 10 ft/lbs), over the fully stock setup. With our snorkel supplying 100% of the air to the engine we were able to maintain the power figures collected in our baseline test. Breaking even was the plan in terms of performance since this kit is intended for engine protection, but the extra torque with both inlets open is the cherry on top. For the occasional off-roader, pairing this snorkel with our performance intake kit would be ideal if you’re also looking for a performance boost on the road.
Also, I tried purchasing with two different CC yesterday and both were turned down (Payment authorization rejection from the processor)...not likely my CC...hoping things were shut down for Christmas Day...
Apologies on that! I was just checking with our IT dept. and there was a slight technical issue, but everything is back up and running now!

That's exactly what we ended up finding with our dyno testing. We were essentially testing to ensure we didn't sap too much power from the engine but were able to maintain the same power with only the snorkel inlet. With both open we did note a slight bump in power

@Mishimoto Awesome design! Being able to maintain factory power with the stock inlet plugged is amazing, gains while using the factory scoop is cool. Hopefully the plug will come with the kit or could get one after they're finalized.

I've been wondering the same thing, but i'd rather wait for them to ship it when the plug included vs chasing that down after delivery.
I didn't want to miss the pre-sale...that's almost $100 saving...?
