When I lived in Columbus , I went in to Reikart with one of their 2,000 for your trade Ads , they tried to play the shell game and hide actual car price so I would only think I was getting the deal, realized what he was doing, got up and told him he can screw somebody else with false advertising but not me and promptly walked out the door.
I talked to a few coworkers and was told they were the worst dealer in Columbus to deal from as they all had bad experience with them as well.

:LOL: :clap::LOL::LOL::rockon::like:

Now dat? Dat rit' der is funny. Also very true. And funny.

Got one of those wives right down the street from me with her Rubicon pick 'em up truck. Though I think I did see a possible dirt spot on one of the tires the other day as she drove past. Would love to quiz her as to how to engage low range on her ride.

What are you driving now?
I missed it I’m sure, how many miles on your truck?

I never really paid attention to interest in car notes till yesterday. 6.5% and above around here.
My ford garage never keeps many new vehicles on the lot. Down the street the combo dealer has 100s. They do Honda, Jeep, dodge.

Riekart in Columbus on of those huge mega dealers that never budges on price yet sell all kinds used to have a thousand vehicles on the lot. Last time I was by there, they had a few hundred best guess.

Ill run mine a few more years with interest the way it is,
truck is a 2019, 70k miles, 10k over warranty. I’m driving my dads 2020 canyon he doesn’t really use until it’s fixed.
i bought the truck at the beginning of the shut downs in California when dealers thought they’d never sell another car again…..worked well in my favor haha

Getting mine back from the dealership tomorrow with a rebuild at 22k miles. Not a terrible wait for me at only 2 weeks and a few days. Hopefully the parts list shows the redesigned drum. Mine wasn't a complete stopage nor a code thrown, but really sloppy shifts at mid throttle and a slipping sensation (back and forth) during acceleration. I have the extended warranty through 2027 or 100k miles, so it's going in for any little thing until that point.

The crap thing about this one is... it is based on a design flaw and not because those who lost a trans didn't keep up on maintenance or drove like idiots. Seems like a roll of the dice if that drum or valve body gives you the finger and causes problems.

GM at least admitted their design sucked and believe they have it right with the new 8L80 in the Colorado this year and Silverado in 24. Going up to 100k on the warranty.

I heard about and or saw a new part number for the 10R80 that could help that is quietly going in 2024 models (?). Just a major PITA to install ahead of time and that will never become a recall.

I looked at trading away from the known issue while have some equity in the Ranger... but it seems everything resonably sized with a bed has some sort of transmission issue lurking. Even the mighty Toyota has haters on their 6 speed for gear hunting. Also the Santa Cruz and that is the least truck like thing out there..... has transmission issues.

I really wish this thing would have had a manual option.... but then it would have probably had a dual mass flywheel that is expensive and breaks alot......... I thought about a Yota with a stick but I feel weird sitting in them driving an automatic.... that would be super awesome with a clutch.
Main issue these days is the complexity of the gearboxes. EPA is what drives most of it! Oh I long for the days of a good C6 or turbo400, those were good solid units because they were simpler in design.

I have been watching these trans threads and just the other day noticed mine slipping while going 30mph and chugging....it cleared on it's own after I shut it off and then let it sit for 20min as I ran into a store and headed out again. I have not seen the issue come back. I have 31K and it is a 2019 with coverage for another 5K under an extended warranty that is bumper to bumper with $50 copayment. Beyond fixing the redesigned CDF drum, I read this trans issue was resolved in 2022 or 2023 models? Is that correct?

Most folks who have had the issue have had a complete failure with trans fluid everywhere and a toasted transmission.

reading these threads has convinced me of two things. 1) I will be buying the ESP because it is worth it for the peace of mind. My pops used to say "Carry full coverage Insurance on anything you can't afford to replace" ESP is basically that for me. I am looking at retirement in the next 1-2 years if not sooner and I would hate to have to come up with transmission money or engine money after I retire. money well spent IMHO. and 2) I will be keeping my Ranger till I die or it dies whichever comes first.

I bleed Ford blue and I am a Ford guy for life cause they ALL have issues and going to a Taco, or Canyon or whatever flavor you want to go to all you are doing is trading one set of problems for another, or maybe even the same. so pick your poison. frying pan or fire.

yes, email [email protected] and if you have existing coverage we can upgrade your coverage for longer terms/miles.
I was going to wait on getting one but taking a look at the cost I will be able to save up the funds for a 175K 10 year premium before my 12 months is up. and you guys have Ziegler beat.

You should see how many times they "fixed" the ford focus DCT :-|
Hahahahahaha. I had one of those bastards. 2012 Focus titanium. I traded it in before the trans started having issues. but because of those issues took a bath on the trade in. thankfully it was paid off and I was still in Iraq making good money so I didn't really care too much. not as bad as the chevy Vega but damn close.

Not gonna lie, this whole trend of blown transmissions does worry me about the longevity of my ranger. I really do like the truck, and the safety features are great. They just don't make vehicles like they used to.
I believe that Uncle Sam is going to continue to make insane demands on auto manufacturers until they price the entire population out of the ICE market. That is the ONLY way EV has any chance of success in the market. Get everyone in 15 minute cities, limit travel access simply by not having charge facilities except where they will allow us to travel.

Folks, it takes the same amount of energy to generate electricity to power EVs vs petrol in ICE autos, and much more energy to manufacture EVs. There is no net improvement in lower C02 emissions. All those EV batteries coming out of Chinese manufacturing plants are powered by coal fired electric generating plants. And China is furiously building coal fired generating plants throughout the country. Bringing two new plants on line each week.

Stupid question, but are all these tranny failures happening only on the 2019 models? I have a 2021, shifts like crap and have had a few occasional hard thumps. I plan on keeping it forever. I really hope mine doesn’t explode. I love this truck. Getting the Ford tune installed this weekend. Really hoping that smooths out the transmission.

I have the geico mechanical breakdown coverage. Wonder how well they’d cover me in the future in case of failure…

mines been to dealers a few times for transmission issues. the most recent they told me nothing was wrong with it. rough shifts, hanging in gear, missing gears, stumbles between gears, gear hunts etc. basically the same as everyone else has posted. i had the tsb done and it has not helped but im at 34k and it has not gone poof yet. i expect it to go out just shortly after the 36k warranty is out lol. but it dont matter much as the last dealer i went to told me that me putting on aftermarket shocks, struts, and leaf springs voided my warranty... worst thing about owning a ford is always the dealers.
