Couple of things that stand out about this (aside from the blatant shifting of blame to the customers for having short commutes and/or living in cold climates):

1) They're taking the position that this condition doesn't effect engine durability, not matter how severe the issue. This is very encouraging for Ranger owners. I don't buy that it doesn't effect durability at all, but at least this means their engineering team has concluded that it won't cause complete engine failure substantially earlier than expected.

2) They're telling dealers NOT to do anything about it when customers report their engine is making oil. This seems like poor guidance given that some owners have had excess fuel dilution due to bad injectors/HPFPs. Now any problems that manifest themselves as excess fuel (or other fluids!) getting into the oil are just going to get ignored.

I would rather they take that position than throw parts at vehicles that are unfixable due to driving habits.

”Shifting blame” seems a little strong. The causes they list for fuel accumulation in a direct injection engine are fairly well documented, as are the driving behaviors they recommend to reduce it.

Seems like there's room for a happy medium between "throw parts at vehicles that aren't actually broken" and "ignore vehicles that have rising oil levels because one of the potential causes is normal function."
