In my 68 chevy I carry a gadget that screws in to a spark plug hole and uses pulses from the engine to pump up tires. I have used it many times. But, for the Ranger I dont think that it will fit the spark plug threads.

There is another alternative that is used heavily in rv's that boondock alot...an inverter. Converts 12 volt to watts.
A nice 3000 watt inverter would let you carry a small 110 volt compressor, like a Porter Cable CMB 15 (I carry one in our motor home).
When your done airing up your tires, make yourself a pot of coffee.
The inverter hooks directly to battery and while engine is running, you just plug your compressor in and your good to go.

It actually converts 12vdc to 120VAC @ ### watts, depending on the size of the inverter, I have 700 watts of solar charging 400AH Lithium batteries feeding a 2500 watt inverter for whole house power. But it is still better to have a 12 compressor as the flexibility and portability of the smaller compressors are great. Most RV'ers that Boondock worry about 2 things, power & water, as they are a limiting factor in how long you can stay off grid, we can manage 2 weeks or so.

Years ago I used to carry one of those on my M/C along with a tubeless tire repair kit, worked great the few times I had to use it.

I agree as for the use of these in an rv.
My intent was just to propose an alternative so one could use a small plug in type compressor.
Wouldn't even have to be a permanent mount....just hook it up in times of need.
We don't boondock, but I do carry a Porter Cable compressor...even on the road, should the need arise, the rig has a 4000 watt genny.
I carry a Viair 88 in the Ranger, but will probably upgrade to a 300 in the future.

I can see the attraction of carrying a larger 110V compressor on the road, but as my Class A is only 27', and we stay on the road for several months at a time I am pressed for space, one reason I bought the Ranger, more space.

I purchased the same one over a year ago and used it about 25 times and it shit the bed as of three weeks ago. Just replaced it with the smitty , used it once and I was impressed. Not a fan of the Japanese fittings . But I've seen people mod them with standard fittings and a pressure switch
Which Smitty?
Got a link?

Ah disregard. I found it pretty easy. Yeah I think a LOT of those all come out of the same factory. Same with the one I posted up. I don't see any real material difference between anything in that build style.

I wish they would come up with a spiral compressor like the one in your home AC compressor. Seems like less to fail and better endurance.

NO matter what the job, or branch I have the utmost respect to all that have served. Any time I come across a person who has lost a loved one ( Burial Flag ) I get chills.

So I got this compressor in, and it is a beast, I have a 19.5” RV tire with a nail and slow leak, was waiting on the truck tire repair kit to fix it. This thing took it from no air after the repair to 85 psi in 4 minutes, several times faster than my old compressor, so I am happy. Now need to figure out a place to store it, twice as large as the old one, which is now under the truck rear seat.
