I read elsewhere that 20% E85 with 80% 91 Octane (10% ethanol) will give you something like 95 octane.

I wonder if there is a blending calculator out there.

I was replying to a closed thread but.. for what it's worth

I didn't see (mpg) or feel (butt dyno) any difference in 87 and 93. So I am running mid grade Shell (top tier) as a bit of a safety margin for a truck tuned from the factory (IAW the book in my glove box) to run 87 unless it's hot etc.

I run regular 87 cause I'm constantly moving and need cheap gas.I could've been buying racing gas for last two years for the same price I pay today...what ever you do, always buy gas from a busy station to assured the fuel is fresh...

I've been using 93 for awhile and there's a difference. I started using 93 before I got the livernois tuner, didn't notice much difference. The tuner helped out a lot. Then I went back to stock about 4 weeks ago. Stock has been handling a lot better. Before there was somewhat of a struggle with getting to 60mphs because I have to get up there fast. Once I returned to stock, I'm not seeing the struggle. So my input is, the longer you use it, the better the performance you'll get. I'm not using top tier, just where it's convenient for me to get gas.

I was using low grade and threw in some mid grade, actually seemed to ride worse in drive but better in sport.

Who knows unless you did some actual tests with the same conditions over a long period of time.

Let it get down to 18 miles to empty. Pulled into the Circle K and had to wait in a line that went around the gas station. With 18 miles, I wasn't going to the next station. Turns out about half the pumps were out of order - causing the line.

I pulled up to the pump and it was only selling 91. So I sucked it up and filled up.

Figuring I was about to run an absolute tank full I kept on it for about three weeks with two half tank fill ups. So by now I've run about 30 gallons through it or roughly 500 miles. I can tell no difference in pep, horsepower, mileage, etc.

Not suprised on the price as it is a little worse here in Colorado. Also chances are the truck will appreciate it and give a few extra for it.

That gooey mess left of the gallons is where the "I did that" sticker goes. They get put up so much around here there's a lump of adhesive on every pump now.

I've been running 91 for a year+ and enjoying the extra 30hp or whatever it is but I'll be going back to 87 when the oil price kicks in.

Not for nothing, but when I bought a brand new F150 back in 2003, I kept track of every tank of fuel I bought in a spreadsheet. I logged the brand, location, octane, driving characteristics and resulting fuel economy. I kept this up for 15000 miles.

The results? I saw slightly better gas mileage on premium on all brands, but not enough to justify the additional cost. The one surprise was that I consistently got the best gas mileage on 87 octane gas from RaceTrac here in Texas.

I haven't even put gas in my new Tremor, but I might try doing this again to see if there is much of a difference.

Only fuel choice that ran bad in my truck was who ever Kroger gets their gas from.

BTW, a 40cent increase over the past 3 days in my area.
If you don't have GasBuddy you might look into that and get their debit card to save you a few cents.

Wow, I can't believe San Dog is more expensive than Oahu.

Took the advice here and went to Costco at 8:30pm last night. Filled up the 91 grade and virtually no line. Will make this a habit now since my wife's Range Rover right now costs like $120 to full up..lol.
