Probably the best way to answer the (Spring Load) question is to compare the 2.

I would be interested in - Spring Rate (Belt Installed)
a. How much force does it take to begin moving the tensioner (Pre-Load)
b. Force at Half-Way Point
c. Force at Full Rotation

Test would be easiest with old school (Beam Style) T-Wrench as you can view the full travel torque.

You can do the same (bench test) but I feel the actual installed test would be the most accurate as you are actually measuring (Operating) position and what the tensioner forces are as it absorbs the belt rotation (flex)
May not be the most accurate way to check the difference, but it will at least get a close approximate difference (if any)

So far it (APPEARS) they are an exact match and the only difference is the way they mount, but we should at least check if there is a difference, no one is reporting any issues - (Belt Walking etc) so this tells me the pulley alignment is still (In-Line) for me this is the most important and the tension load a secondary concern and with no one having issues with belt slipping or squealing etc - they must be close or the same.

With the install - I would not install spacers (washers) at the new mount points and I would not grind away on the (Timing Cover) - slight modifications to the new tensioner (body) only, this is an expendable part and much easier to replace over the timing cover or mounting lugs for the new tensioner.

How are the Escape tensioners working?, I ask on AI about using a 2018 escape tensioner on my 2020 ranger and got a book of reasons not to use it. Sprong tenstion not right. Ect...., and 0 reasons why i should.
...
The 2018 Escape tensioner is the same part number used on a 2019 Lincoln MKC with the 2.3L engine. Therefore, it would seem to me, that the tensioner tension is correct for the 2.3L engine.

I’m on the Escape Forum because we own a 2022. When I do a search under the 3G group for belt tensioner I get hardly any posts mentioned. One guy was selling his spare one that he never needed after a bunch of miles. If there were issues then it would be populated with posts

AI - will squawk it - as it is not a (Ford Approved) swap and is basically an experimental swap at this point
So as long as - belt tracking (alignment) stays true, no belt walking or shredding and the new attach points (are unaltered) shear loads then it boils down to the belt tension as the only factor (is it stronger - weaker or the same) as in the overall operation this affects the other associated pulleys and the constant load applied to them

So are we adding extra stress (tension) to the other pulleys?
This would be the (Unknown) at the moment, yes its most likely ok, but it would be a great test to find the answer so we have a known difference if any.

no thanks
the tension difference between the two parts is a legitimate question….. but you’d need to compare brand new vs brand new

the escort replacement seems quieter than the one it replaced, but a new ranger part might sound better also

I prefer the mounting points of the escort version and won’t ’ change back

I used my old school beam style torque wrench on the old tensioner held in a vise. The tension increased progressively as I went the full movement, but it barely registered on the tool. Less than 10 ft lb initially (it really didn't register enough to tell, and maybe 12-15 ft lbs fully extended. Again, it didn't really move the bar enough to make a difference, just enough to barely move it. You will really need Inch lb torque wrench to pull an accurate reading.... and even then it will be on the low low end of the scale.

Checked the installed tensioner, but did not remove the belt or tensioner. It was too close to check with the torque wrench, but I used a large Cresent adjustable wrench. The tension felt comparable.

It is good enough for me. I'm satisfied that they are interchangeable.
