I would love to do that !
There is no way I would do that! Too cold...

Pictures are pretty but I hate the cold.

I feel the same way. It's one of the main reasons I left MA....to darn cold! ?

You just put on a good jacket and you are warm. The trick is not to get too hot. Winter makes life very real and gives you a whole new palette of things to do!

Cold doesn’t bother me and hot doesn’t bother me, but I have never experienced extreme hot. 100° I could handle, but I never experience 115°, which I can appreciate is a completely different animal.

Not me. Anything under 70 now and I'm freezing! ?

We use to snowmobile just about all of Maine from Millinocket, Eagle Lake and Fort Kent into Canada. Morning were -20 and daytime highs around 6 and while I loved and and still miss it at times no way I want to adventure out it in ever again.

I can deal with the heat much easier now and even at 110+ I'd much rather be here than back east. We do see temps around 115-118 for about 1 week in late June but the average usually is around 110. Once it's over 110 it really doesn't matter much, it's just hot! The dry heat will sneak up on you because people think you're not seating because it evaporates so fast you rarely see it. Then they do something dumb like try to hike at 12 noon with a 16 oz bottle of water. I drink 1 gallon/day year round and summers usually closer to 2 gals.

Keep the pictures coming as they're really nice but I have no desire to experience it first hand anymore. ?

A request PLEASE: Could some of you wonderful photographers please take some pictures tomorrow night (Dec. 21) of Jupiter and Saturn and post them? Thank you!
I so much want to take that picture. We likely will be overcast at the time, but I will be outside hoping for a break in the clouds. I try and take a lot of nighttime pictures to share on our Cottage Association website and this would be a real jewel to capture.

Our lake finally froze over.

The booms, whale sounds and other sounds hard to describe, are amazing as the ice grows.
(in front of my place the ice is 12 days old, thick enough and safe enough to go ice fishing yesterday, where we caught the first pike of the season. The glory fish to catch is Lake Trout)

We have a lake house in Maine, we rent it out all winter and use it in the summer. A few years ago a tenant was into ice fishing, he would set it up and then go back inside and watch it from the house. Maybe someday we'll use it ourselves for the winter.

That is a ton of snow. I don’t think I have ever experienced that much from a single storm. If i had that much here I would be working around the clock plowing with my ATV.

I wish we could do that here. You have to be within 120’ of your setup or you get fined.
