While that is cool and all, I just don't see the point. Are these purely cosmetic? They are hardly ever seen.
Only to those who care...like OP? ?

I couldn't care less, just was curious. Besides, a rubber pad would be more of a functional thing than cosmetic.

Ford gas pedals have been bare plastic since probably the early 1970s.

In the last 3 days I've discovered my Ranger has a Squeaky Tail (Damper in cold), a wet shaft, and now a naked pedal !!!
Truck is turning into a porno queen !

Well...I guess there's no point in continuing this thread then...
I am curious why some trucks have rubber on the gas pedal, while most do not. I am wondering what good it does. I don't give a crap what it looks like.

I"m guessing none have rubber on them from the factory - mine was one of the early builds (March of 2019 - about 4 months into production - before all the "deletes" started happening). I would never have realized it didn't have a rubber pad on it had I not looked closely.

At least when I mount my Ranger it gives me a "smooth" ride, it doesn't "vibrate" at all !!!

Mine has no rubber pad, but the plastic pedal. Never noticed it before and like Dave, I've had my truck almost 3 years now. Here is what mine looks like:

I have a 2020 and mine looks the same.

Most pedestrian pedals are cheap and serve their function...they're the last thing to get attention from a branding stand point...often the gas pedal will be all plastic because is doesn't bear much stress and is fly by wire...from expensive to exotics, the pedals get more attention and bling...again, no relation to day to day function...then there's the track oriented cars that will have metal perforated pedals for traction on the brake and smooth but wide gas pedal for the gas so it can be easily reached during heel/toe...I did that with my Mini's pedals...for my Ranger, I blinged them up for the same reason others change up wheels...mostly for looks...
