Basically a use or lose type of deal so it was more of a "staycation". Got a few unfinished projects around the house done, went on a few bike rides when the weather was nice and, knocked out a few to do's on the Ranger.

First, the rear seat delete.

https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/scab-seat-delete-project.26493/

Just like people said, removing the back seats were very easy. I put sound deadener on the back before putting everything on like @alaska2baja did. I will say, 2 things I wasn't expecting. One, that the main back panel is a carpeted panel, I thought it would be hard plastic. And two, didn't realize how involved it would be and how much I would have to remove to install both pieces, nothing hard, just time consuming. I don't know what @alaska2baja did regarding the seatbelt buckles, but I opted to tuck them in the corners behind the panels. I wrapped them in cloth tape a little to prevent rattles. So far so good.

I haven't tackled the platform yet as I am still figuring things out as I want it hinged somehow so I can access the storage bins. I do have a nice piece of plywood that is leftover from the work bench I re-did that will be used. Also big thanks to Benny @LevittownFordParts.com for getting me the parts needed for this. :like:

Next, I decided to install a wireless charger. I got the idea from a youtube video I watched of a guy rebuilding a wrecked Tremor.

Its was cheap and easy, things I like

Now because of my OCD, I bought a used rear panel with the USB ports off of ebay as well to get an extra USB plug to fill the hole left from using one of the USB ports for this project. I already had the console tray, more on this later .

Now, the charging pad itself I had to trim a little to fit the tray insert, no biggie as it's just rubber on the ends. THAT, should have been a light bulb moment. After all of the work I put into this....MY PHONE DOESN'T FIT IN THE TRAY!! I should have checked that first. But, I know it works as I tested it with my ear buds.

So, I have been looking at other style trays that my phone should fit and I found a couple I will try out. This wasn't a "need" type of upgrade, just something simple and cheap so no real hurry. Lesson learned though, probably wouldn't have went through with this had I known my phone was too big lol.

Nice project and looking forward to seeing the rear seat delete completed. As far as the wireless charger member @DirkM was making these a while ago but not sure if he still is as he hasn't been around in a year. Then there's this one in the For Sale section that goes into your center console which would fit your phone easily.

Unless you have the new Mega-Phone.:oops:o_O

Thought about that one, but I use that area for my ipod. Now if the ipod would still fit under that option, maybe. 🤔

Sweet! Love it.

Pretty sure when I retire (<2yrs) I’m doing the rear seat delete. Unless the warden pulls rank. We’ll be traveling and camping. Will need the space.

I pretty much (in my head lol) figured out a hinged platform. The problem is making what I have in my head a reality, I'm not the best Fabri-cobbler lol. What's holding me up is finding the correct hinges that will work in the locations I have that will make it really easy. Stay tuned

Good luck! I'm the same where I can get an idea and it'll take months sometimes to figure it out.

Darn OCD..

That is so cool. I wish I had paid attention in grade school …et al
Just remember the three most important and basic rules of construction.....
"Righty Tighty Lefty Loosy" and....
Duct tape will fix anything !!!!!
An approximation is always good enough for precision work !!! "That looks about right " is OK for conformation.

That rear seat delete kit looks great Morgan!

I also thought it was smooth plastic when I deleted my rear seats in 2019 (back to stock now).

I simply flopped the seatbelt buckles into the storage bins - the lids still seated and latched properly. I wanted to have them accessible in case I wanted to strap something in place. Otherwise, I would have slipped them behind the panel as you did.

At least you have a good story to tell about that charger. 😀

That's actually done now, was just waiting on the paint to dry. I'll post pics tomorrow.

I like the idea of putting the charger under the lid of the console but don't like drilling holes and I'm lazy. I went a quick and dirty route and mounted the wireless charger by the usb ports and mounted the apple carplay dongle under the panel below the steering wheel. So far it works for me after a year of use.

Looks like I was on "vacation" when you posted this. Looks great! I'm glad to see I'm not the only dude that uses his time off to do a bunch of chores 🤪
