My only complaint about the RSW is that it usually wipes once when I start up in the mornings - and I park inside. So it just does that one wipe on a dry and likely dirty windshield. :frown: But everything else about them, I like.
That's Courtesy Wipe- You can turn it off in Settings>Wipers.

I have my Courtesy wipe set to ON and it does not do that on start up. I don';t think that is a function of the Courtesy wipe.

This is my understanding of Courtesy wipe and this is how mine works:

A courtesy wipe is a feature that many Ford vehicles now have built into their automated computer systems. After windshield wiper cleaning fluid has been sprayed on and the windshield wipers are activated to clean the windshield, the wipers will swipe several times, usually three, as normal.

The courtesy wipe is an additional swipe of the windshield wipers that happens after a three-second pause.

My Flex SEL had CW and it would swipe on start up if I had the rain sensing engaged, (same digital dash as a Lariat 501A) and both it and my Mariner would swipe once more a couple seconds after using the windshield washers.

So it sounds like I am correct. It isn't the Courtesy Wipe causing it. Base on your post it is the Rain Sensing engaged? Is that whay you are saying?

All:
This went way deeper than I expected. I learned that the four positions in the wiper stalk on the Lariat is not interval, but sensitivity! Never would have dug that deep in Sunny SoCal.
Plus, since you can turn it off, it is not for the camera!!
Thanks.

I turned the rain sensensing feature off. What I did not like is that the wipers would activate, run a few times, turn themselves "off" for a minute or two, then come back on, repeat, etc. Because they were not staying on continuous the auto headlamps would not turn on. I now use traditional wiper delay which will turn on my headlamps at the same time.
