I know this is a Ranger form but I had a interesting thing happen to my wife yesterday while she was driving her Explorer and this technology is in a lot of cars and trucks. She came to a stop at a light car shut down like normal but when the light turned green and she let her foot off the brake NOTHING. Car would not start up while I was on my way home to get the second key she finally got the car to shut off I seen it on the Ford App so I pushed Auto Start and boom the car cranked up and she was able to get it off the road. Funny thing is I drove it home and never got it to do it again, I know if I take it to Ford and they can not duplicate it they will not be able to fix it. Anyone ever had this happen or heard of it before?? If it matters it is a 2023 XLT Explorer with less than 15,000 miles on it.

There's actually a section for other cars.
But I am not sure I understand, you pushed Auto Start/Stop on the Ford app? You say you were on the way home and she finally got it to shut off? Confused.

I started the car with the app after she shut the car down, I thought maybe the the battery in the car fob was bad but this is not the case.

Some 2023 Explorers are part of yet another Ford recall, this one for a stalling issue. Maybe this is what you experienced, maybe not…. Worth checking out.

If I read it correctly, she pulled up to a stop sign / light, ASS did its thing and turned off the engine. Time to go and engine did not restart. The ASS nightmare scenario.

I have one suggestion.... PULL THE PLUG! No more ASS to worry about.

Or just "push the button"...and hope it doesn't crab-walk.

Well as one mentioned I would at least take it in for the recall. Will it fix it? Maybe, maybe not...... ?

That said being a 2023 with only 15,000 miles, I would check the Battery to first make sure it is fully charged. Also consider a Battery Tender of sorts. Due to low miles it is very possible the battery may not be getting fully charged all the time if you and the boss do frequent short drives.
