AT&T Trial Ending

I just got an email saying
" We hope you enjoyed your complimentary 3GB Trial for 3 Mo vehicle Wi-Fi data plan. We wanted to let you know that your AT&T trial data plan will end 01/25/2021. "
So does that mean FordPass will stop working? I was under the impression that you got it free with the vehicle.
I hope that is not correct.

As I understand it your vehicle is like a dig old rolling wireless router. However, I quite technologically challenged, and I may be off base a bit. Someone may come along that's smarter than I am with this new fangled stuff.

AT&T data subscription is to use the built in 4G modem as a wireless hotspot. Basically a cellular plan for your truck. I pay for a subscription because the data is substantially cheaper than upgrading our cellular plan, so its nice to have while traveling and not burning up our phone data.

FordPass also uses this modem, but as mentioned above, there's no charge to use the Ford Pass features.

Jim, I think it's like your home wifi that once you're in range it will let you connect your devices. I never activated mine so I'm not sure if it automatically connects or if you have to go into your device settings every time and select it. Hopefully it's the latter because it would be annoying to have it auto connect when you're in range but not want it to.

At first I thought that it was used for Firmware upgrades. But then I remembered that when I pull in the driveway it connects to my WIFI. So I don't need it. Although I have my issues with SYNC 3.

Almost everyone has unlimited data on their phone. But it’s good for tablets and laptops that don’t have a data plan.
