I eliminated or I should say over ride my start stop. I think I did it after owning my truck less then a year. Bought a memory chip. One of the best moves I've done.

A couple of points...

1)Waiting at a traffic signal for more than 5 minutes? I was an expert in traffic signals before I retired and I've never seen a traffic signal last longer than 140 seconds, but I have had dozens of people complain about a traffic signal lasting 5 minutes. A 5 minute cycle would be extremely disruptive to traffic flow. Did you actually time it?

2) I have a friend that owns a new Subaru Forester with stop start. Her information system told her that she saved 267 litres of fuel last year due to stop/start.

Yes, there are some that are 5 minutes (timed), and it's super disruptive to traffic; there are a few 5-7-way intersections that build up to such levels of general driver frustration, that even after the light cycles sometimes people can't get through because they pile into the intersection even though the light ahead is still red so they block the intersection:| So then have to wait another cycle. Some of the the light sequences are truly baffling.
But even if it were 140 seconds i'd have the same response, when the majority are 2-3 mins :)

In other words, CC is preventing ASS from working properly.
No, CC doesn't prevent ASS from working properly, as in how it was designed to work. Your expectations are what differ for the designed operation of the system. But as @airline tech points out, there are ways to troubleshoot if there is a bad input or a valid reason ASS is not engaging when you think it should.

Exactly. I do want to keep ASS working -- I don't want to disable it :)
When sitting at a light for 5 minutes, I do want the vehicle to shut off.
But, it won't shut off if CC is active, so I'm looking to turn CC off automatically when sitting at a light so that the truck wil shut down, and then CC turn back on when i start driving again (as though i pushed the CC power button manually, off and then on again)

In other words, CC is preventing ASS from working properly. I don't need CC on all the time, and am okay with it turning off for a few minutes at a long light so that ASS can activate properly.
In urban/suburban traffic with speeds of 40mph or less, I put it in tow/haul mode. It disables the ASS and keeps the engine turning about 200rpms higher, which is nice not having it jump into 6th 200ft from the next light.

I also try to remember, unsuccessfully usually, to turn the ASS off when driving into the garage, so the engine stops and restarts again when I put it in Park, so I can shut it off with the key.
