It would be good to know for sure, but my understanding was the trans was EXACTLY the same as the F-150s - different torque converter and different software I could see, but the trans itself I'm pretty sure is the same.I don't think it's the exact same transmission. Someone posted here that it's a little different and might also use a different torque converter. Methinks it's based on the 10R80 design but modified a bit for the vehicle it's put in. I'm betting it's a different tune also, as no F-150 drives anything like my Ranger (shift quality is totally different) and those 10 speeds are like butter.
So much is controlled by software these days so it is entirely possible the combination of the torque converter and software is to blame for these issues.
