So I my 2021 FX4 has been hesitating when going into drive or reverse from park and also clunking some when shifting into a few of the lower gears. Also when decelerating quickly the transmission sometimes makes a huge clunk right before coming to a stop. By a huge clunk I mean it felt as though I had been rear ended. Non of this happens consistently though so I wasn't sure what the dealership would find. I dropped it off this morning and got a call right before closing. They said that they have ordered some parts for the transmission and that it is safe to drive until the parts get in. So I've picked up my truck and should get a call to bring it back in, after the parts arrive. Not sure what is wrong but happy it's getting fixed under warranty.

Safe to drive until you bring it back in and then they need to order yet another part. ?

That's kinda what I thought too. That something as significant as the transmission could cause other parts to wear extra or break? Maybe that's just the worry wart in me though?

What a bunch of whiners... ?
Right! Actually, I thought I was being paranoid after reading all the other transmission threads and didn't expect them to find anything at all. When I dropped it off I was told that they would have it until Tuesday at least, because it'd take time to try reproducing the issues. I was very surprised when they called me back same day with news that they had already ordered parts for the transmission. I'm also ecstatic that the warranty is covering it because I had tuned it back when I first got the truck. I figured they would see the ECU had been flashed and put me on the hook for the repairs. Not the case though. I intentionally did not try to hide or play dumb that I had tuned it previously. My assumption is that whatever the issue is, it is something that Ford is aware of already. Something that's happening to more than just my truck and so the tune wasn't considered a factor in the failure. Just guessing though.

If I may ask out of curiosity, how many miles do you have on your 2021? I have a 2021 XLT with about 11,500 miles on it. I have the extended warranty until March 2029 or 75,000 miles.

I joke of course...they do fail but don't ask me how I know lol...I hope, in your case, that it's all in your head but better to have it checked out while under warranty...

I assumed it was a joke. Just a bit of sarcasm on my part.

22,701 miles. I tow a camper trailer that weighs 3,800 pounds loaded. So, I wonder if the towing caused the issues to present early.

I have the exact same symptoms, however, not as severe as you described. Mine is a 2020 XLT and I currently have 33K plus miles. Brought it in to the local Ford Dealer and they suposedly did a test drive first then a diagnostics and found nothing wrong!?

Your experience is what I expected. That's why I think that my issue is something that this service center has seen before, a known issue.

When I take it back in for the repairs I'll ask them what exactly is being done, exactly what parts are being replaced. Update to follow hopefully by the end of next week. Parts supposedly will be in by late next week, according to service manager.

My understanding is that the transmission in the 5G Ranger is the same one used in the F-150s - it seems like it is overbuilt for what it is required to do. I don't hear about tons of issues with the 10R80s in F-150s - or am I just not looking in the right place? This transmission is in a TON of vehicles - both Ford and Chevy.

I don't think it's the exact same transmission. Someone posted here that it's a little different and might also use a different torque converter. Methinks it's based on the 10R80 design but modified a bit for the vehicle it's put in. I'm betting it's a different tune also, as no F-150 drives anything like my Ranger (shift quality is totally different) and those 10 speeds are like butter.
