Am I correct that you didn't buy the truck where your trans and now driveshaft bearing are getting repaired? Just curious.
That’s correct. We bought the truck from an out of town dealership. Taking it back there isn’t really an option.

Everybody always hating on the dealers and the warranty companies because of a "bad" experience...
Well id like to tell you of the time when the dealer was fantastic and went above and beyond and fought for me untill things were made right !

I really would like to tell that story...
 Why not make a song about it

Give this man a bill and tell him his warranty is gone

Warranty Control to Dealer Tom
Commencing countdown, Warranty gone,

Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two, One, EXPIRED

This is Warranty Control to Dealer Tom
You’ve really made him pay !
And the papers show its all just wear and tear
Now it’s time to run his credit card,
if you dare!

This is Dealer Tom to Warranty Control
He just called us both assholes,
And he's cussing in a most peculiar way,
Some of these words I've never herd untill today!

For he just threw the bill in the tin can,
From far across the room,
But between just me and you there was plenty we could do...
Dum de dum de dum de dum dum 🎶 !

Time to turn this case over to Stephen A Smith and put his loud mouth rhetoric to the test "championship level defense against costly car repairs" Why would anyone even consider a xwarranty other than car shield ? Go Spurs !

Perhaps you're right about SAS. Not sure I blame him for just trying to make a buck. At least they are not selling out America to do so.
Do you all have the same animosity toward Danika Patrick?

Well appearances aside Patrick raced professionally, SAS never played pro sports, I never cared for his loud mouth analysis from yrs back, arguably he's improved but still not a fan. Big profits involved in the selling of xwarranties which is why dealerships pitch them relentlessly, and companies pay SAS, Ice T, and Danica to pitch them but a lot of poorly informed consumers get burnt , but again at least Danica was involved with autos. Some 30 yrs back john Elway had car dealerships in Denver, I stopped in a Honda shop he owned, the pricing was significantly higher than other dealerships so I asked the sales person if people do pay more for the Elway name, the guys face lit up in the biggest sh*t eating grin and said you wouldn't believe how many people pay more because of Elways name on the dealership. I did like Arnie pitching pennzoil in the old tractor on the family farm , Arnie was the real deal, but I only buy super tech oil from wally mart.

I've never once saw an advertisement and said "I'm buying that product because (insert famous name here) endorsed it. Actually it's been the opposite sometimes where I wouldn't buy a product (or bought a competitors product) because someone I disliked was endorsing it.

As far as SAS goes he's full of hot air and I can't stand the guy. Something about him makes my skin crawl and I mute the channel when he's on.

This is the only SAS that could get me to buy a product.

BTW most anytime you can get people to pay upfront the entire amount of multi year service contracts its can be a very lucrative business arrangement , sales people are most always given invcentives to sell multi year contracts and they usually get paid all at once. So as Duke I think alluded to a auto finance guy has no skin in the game selling a 3rd party warranty, he gets paid upfront and the buyer is then left to deal with the warranty firm on any issues.

As much I think warranties are a load of crap in most cases, it did save us having to pay $7k for a transmission. That’s the ONLY reason we decided to get it. I had already been driving my ranger for a few years and the factory 65k mile warranty was already expired when I started having hard shifts with my transmission. I figured paying an extra few grand (or whatever the price was/is) for an extended warranty on her truck would save us some change if her transmission ever had issues. And it did…

I’d have to look at the paperwork again to see if it actually paid off or if it’s one of those “makes you feel good” things that we got suckered into. Either way, I’m still not happy about how this issue with the driveshaft carrier is being handled. Btw, dealership said they’d call us today with an answer whether or not the repair will be covered. Didn’t hear from them… Tried calling them on my lunch break, got hung up on. Excellent customer service! 👍

In your particular case, I think you made a good choice. I kept toying with the idea of an extended warranty especially hearing of the trans issue some people experienced, but opted to roll the dice. Paid off for me. Never looked at Carshield, but I did price the Ford warranty through Granger. Moot point as I don't own the 5G anymore, so here I am going through the same thoughts for the 6G.
