I am curious if anyone else has had flickering issues with Alpharex Luxx headlights. It is very mild and intermittent, almost more like a fluctuation than a flicker and seems to happen every 15-20 minutes. I have checked all the connections for the headlights and DRLs, just trying to figure out if this is normal or something to be concerned about.

I suspect the issue is the lights are being powered from 2 sources - tapped and the BCM, did you make any changes in Forscan after installation?
Is it the Headlight or DRL that flickers?

I did not make any changes in forscan, you aren’t supposed to have to do anything like that. It’s the low beam, and both sides seem to do it. It’s really more of a fluctuation where it’ll get slightly brighter or slightly darker but it looks kinda like a flicker.

What did the OE have - Halo or LED?

The issue with Aftermarkets and Tapping Power is that the BCM is still trying to power the (Low Beams) as DRL's @ 50% Power (Halos) Power needs to be adjusted and changed so that the BCM sees that the Low Beams are no longer the DRL's

Aftermarket (LED) moves the DRL to the strip (Bright) and (Parking) Dim

Ref: These Threads to shed some light.
Now I installed Factory LED on my (Downgraded LED Delete) as I wanted the truck to be as ordered after Ford screwed me on my order.
You can try these settings mentioned in the below threads to see if that cures the flickering issue, it all depends on how the (internal) wiring is done on the Aftermarket Light itself.

The only difference between the Aftermarkets & Factory LED is how the Turn Signal is incorporated into the light - Factory (Dedicated) Turn / Aftermarket (most) use the DRL/Park Strip and make it a switchback (white as DRL) (amber as turn)
and the Factory does not add any tapped power source, they are strictly controlled via the BCM

Hope this helps in understanding what is happening, the Aftermarket vendors do not want to tell you that hey buy these lights from us, but you will need a software program from Russia to make them work PROPERERLY, now some have had success without Forscan changes, but I have a strong hunch - this is your issue. LED's are finicky to voltage fluctuations.

Just a couple of random thoughts. The OP did not say if he disabled the factory DRLs in the dash menu. This is spelled out in the Alpharex install instructions. Second, he mentioned that it happens every 15 to 20 minutes, is it one pulse or a series of pulses? I seem to remember a while back there was some mention that the BCM occasionally checks the curcuit to detect a light outage. There is a setting in Forscan to disable this feature. This could explain the occasional pulse or flicker.

Not sure how the Alpharex lights are wired. The OLM/Morimoto lights I just installed in mine do not have a pin in the DRL location in the headlight connector. And, the DRL harness only has a fuse tap, not a battery positive and negative connection, like Alpharex harness. I did not need to disable the the DRLs in the dash menus, or make any changes in my Forscan settings. My fogs and parking lights came on when I took the truck out park just like it before install.

Just my random thoughts.

Thanks for the input, I do have the DRL option turned off in the menu and my truck was halogen from the factory. I haven’t used forscan before but may look into the setting for turning the light check off. I’m also wondering if it matters which terminals I use. It’s for the DRLs though so I’m not sure if that actually has any bearing on the low beams.

Still wondering if it is a single flicker every "15 or 20 miunutes" or a series or continuous. Also is it both sides or just one. Are you using the Auto switch setting?

Yeah, just a very brief “flicker” almost more like a pulse or a fluctuation in the output. Yes I’m using the auto switch and I have seen both of the headlights do it, but they don’t do it at the same time.

Hmm, interesting. Haven't experienced this with my lights, but I'm running a different brand.
