Not sure how far out each side either of these widths would stick out. I’d like some length of bar extending beyond the base feet, but not enough to crash my head into as I walk around. I’d like enough to maybe mount a light simple awning, or position my Yakima box closer to the side, where it will straddle either side of the foot base

54” seems to be the length I see when searching mid size truck canopy roof load bars.

I’m eyeing the Rhino Rack Vortex bar system. I’ve ordered a Snugtop Rebel with roof tracks, I can use use crossbar system with it. I also have windoors, I hope crossbars don’t interfere too bad when those are in the open position.

I don't have a topper, but I have a Yakima HD bars across my bed. They are 68" and are just a bit wider than the bed rails, so even a rail that wide wouldn't be a clotheslining hazard on a topper.

My RSI load bars are 45.5” and it has the gullwings- anything a few inches wider would likely interfere with opening them. The roof tapers a lot on the ranger (I wish it didn’t have so much taper for many reasons). I’m not sure what your shell will be like, but it will probably be similar.

My Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform is 49” wide - about the same as my ARE topper. I do not have tracks - bolted straight to topper. You do not need crossbars as the platform has crossbars built it, which givesyou a lower profile.

If you need the extra width, they have plenty of different sizes.
