Got the spare down just to confirm what I actually had there and it was as expected. Just a little gravel, sand, and water on the wheel so I cleaned it off. Also checked the pressure and it was still good. Guess I'll be ordering what I need now. Thanks to everyone for the info.

My truck is coming up on 7k miles and I'm thinking its about time to do a tire rotation. I have an FX4 with a spare that I'm thinking of rotating in. I know I'm going to need to buy a matching wheel since the spare has a steel wheel. I found them for sale at this site below for $150, unless someone can suggest a better source. Also I'll need a TPMS which the site sells for $45.

Will most dealers or discount tire do 5 tire rotations? Do they charge more to do them? Anyone have any thoughts or experiences they want to share?
Find a good, local tire dealer. They’ll do what you desire. Or, go help another big box store with your $$ going to Timbuctu.

Finally got this done. Matching wheel and TPMS came in, so I went to Discount Tire. They did the wheel swap and rotation, only charged me $24 for the swapping out the wheel.

I guess I'll see if I can sell the steel wheel locally, unless there is anyone here in South Texas who might be interested in buying it.

Why do you want to swap out the spare tire? That's what it's for: to be used and then returned.

Reviving this old thread. Hear me out.
I do a five tire rotation. I buy a matching wheel and tire. Keep the original spare stored in the garage. I do this so when I have a bad tire or one single tire that needs replaced at over 10000 miles, I don’t have to replace all four or buy a new pair( not debating on buying 4 vs 2). In having the spare rotated with all the tires, then I just replace the damaged tire with the spare that has the same tread wear. I then put the original spare back in place. So there is initial cost up front, but it’s cheaper than buying four or two new tires. And I would have to pay for a single new tire anyway, so its only adding the cost if the additional wheel. It’s without fail I get a sidewall nail or blowout around 15-20000 miles and I end up buying four new.

When you rotate the tires is there a programming step needed after so the truck's computer relearns which wheel is at which corner for tire pressure monitoring??

And cheap asses like me appreciate you. We scoop up those gently used tires for a deal!

So I bought a matching rim and tire+pressure sensor to get that 60K miles out of the expensive Michelin tires. Even printed out the correct pattern for garages that aren't used to doing it. Yesterday the Ford dealer did the rotation but notified me the 'spare' was 'severely' out of balance - first time out of four rotations so I wonder what might cause that...

Here is another question, about how many miles should one go before rotating?
I do mine at 5000 miles, every time I change the oil.
I do not rotate the spare but I drop it and check the air every 6 months, scrub both sides with Bleach-White and spray it with Armor All. I don't know that the thingy at the end of the spare tire winch cable would fit through center hole of the regular wheels.
My system using two floor jacks:
1. Jack up left side of truck. LR to LF, LF to LR but only snug it with three lug nuts because it's coming back off.
2. Jack up right side off truck. RR to RF, let down the jack.
3. Move jack to LR, jack up LR again, remove tire, put it on RR.
4. Put RF tire on LR.
While I have the tires off I scrub the back sides with Bleach-White and spray with Armor All.
