Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
Your mistake was asking her.
It was beyond our agreed upon but not really official "going to spend over $X tell your spouse first." So I did tell... and then I didn't spend.

I can spend a few hundred "without approval." But the wheel was way beyond that. Warden gave me the look. The look has been known to make my blood run cold... :surprised:

But your ship is the Admiral's flag ship. The admiral tells you where to go.
And she has been known to tell me "where to go." :giggle:

You didn't explain that with 5 tire rotation, you wouldn't have to retire as soon. Thereby saving money. Wifes like the saving money part...
I think "the look" had me so miscombobalated that my brain shut down and was overwhelmed with one command... "ABORT!!!"

My wife has been known to call me names like "f***ing loser." Yeah it stings a little, rarely deserve it, but I still spend my money as I see fit. She won't know I bought a new exhaust unless she is observant enough to notice after it is installed.

My posts have been humor... or at least trying to be. Until now. Wife and I have never called each other "f'ing loser" or any such thing. Nor would we. Even in our worst arguments. It's called respect. If that day were to ever come we'd have bigger issues than spending money. That's a long ways from me joking about her telling me to go to hell.

Additionally, I don't have "my" money. We have "our" money. Wouldn't have it any other way. But that is just me. You do you. Many of my friends have his and her money. Works for them.. Just not the way I roll.

Lastly, but screwing up a perfectly good joke, I told my wife I was thinking of buying a wheel for the spare. She asked why. Then she asked the cost. Then commented that they are expensive. Went on to say something to the effect of "But if you think we need it...." So I didn't buy the wheel because I decided that I did not want to spend the amount of money that it required. Simple cost benefit analysis with a pinch of truck love blended in. Wife asked me a few weeks later about it and I told her I'd decided not too as I did not want it enough to lay out the cash.

Damn, just totally torpedoed my previous humorous (hopefully) explanation of the event.

Relax. Yeah she has short temper, but we all have our issues. This year will be 30 years of marriage. Wouldn't have lasted that long if we didn't respect each other or there were serious underlying issues. Thanks for the lecture.

No lecture intended. Clarifying spending $ at my house as your response to me seemed to insinuate that I need permission to pay attention. That was all.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program.
