I received this email from a friend over at Gold Eagle and it's a preview of a video coming out on the 27th. This is another reason I really like this company as they made this documentary called From The Ground Up: Keeping The Desert Clean. Even though they're based in Chicago they made this here in AZ about the problem we have here with illegal dumping in our desert. It's nice to see a company giving back.

From the email:

Over the past 10 months, in between our other regular duties of promoting Gold Eagle-branded products, we have been planning, shooting, and editing the first-ever full documentary produced in-house. 'From The Ground Up: Keeping The Desert Clean' is presented by both 303(r) and STA-BIL(r) and tells the story of an Arizona non-profit that volunteers their time, money, and energy into hosting massive clean-up events to clear public lands of illegal dumping. These off-roaders and overlanders may not keep their trucks as clean as we'd like, but they 100% align with the Gold Eagle motto of PROTECT AND PRESERVE THE THINGS YOU LOVE.

The full documentary is slated to air on 303(r) YouTube on April 27th.

There will also be promotional assets published on both 303(r) and STA-BIL(r) social accounts before and after the launch to help promote it. Please share and follow if you have a chance. @303CarCare & @STABILBrand

Well that's pretty cool, and one more reason to like them ...
I'm looking forward to the full documentary on the 27th. It's amazing how people are such slobs and just throw their trash out in the desert like it's a city dump! I've seen everything from tv's, washers/dryers and all sorts of furniture thrown out there. Some are used for target practice, shoot it up and leaving it there.

Damn , I thought that was just a WV thing , not sure if you remember the old commercial where the Indian is crying about all the damn trash he is rowing through but they need to bring that back , not really that hard to pick up after your self... except beer cans , most rides we go on , we purposely toss the beer cans when we stop , they are ALWAYS gone when we come back through ...

No unfortunately the pigs are everywhere now and it's just getting worse and worse. When I first moved here to AZ this area was so clean and free from trash around the streets and neighborhoods. Not that's it's terrible (yet) but there's noticeable trash on the streets, sidewalks and the common areas in our community.

Yes, I do remember that commercial well, thanks for making feel old. lol

Iron Eyes Cody. A Sicilian who pretended he was a Native American to get roles in westerns and then eventually expanded it to get tribal benefits. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Eyes_Cody

Doesn't change the point or effectiveness of the commercial. Although even it was damage control on the part of the beverage companies; when they stopped taking returns on bottles and cans in any state that would allow it, the amount of roadside trash increased exponentially and they were starting to get heat for it. They didn't want to go back to having to package in reusable containers. From that came Keep America Beautiful and the native American along the road. It was an ad campaign to shift public perception from blaming the beverage and food makers to blaming the citizens.

We need to go back to reusable again - almost everything we "recycle" currently either sits in warehouses, open spaces, or goes to the landfill anyway.

Being able to pack out trash was one of the many reasons I went back to a truck. I was raised by my old man that you always leave it cleaner than you found it in regards to the outdoors.

I can't stand to see the national parks being the treated the way they are. Hiked Kaibab a few years ago and the amount of trash just dumped along it was appalling. And that's a trail that gets hiked and cleaned up every day by park rangers and volunteers.

What really gets me is we have bulk pickup here every month and guess what....It's FREE!!! There's no excuse for any of this trash out there. I'll see construction debris dumped on the side of the road along with couches and chairs now.

We shoot out in the desert in several different spots. Some have been closed off because of the mess people have left over the years. They'll bring out their old tv's, shoot them up and just leave them there. They never pick up their brass or shot gun shells and it really looks like the city dump. We rarely use paper targets now mostly steel plates and silhouettes but we bring a rake and 5 gallon bucket to clean up our brass. It's really disgusting and sad to see so many have no respect for our land and country.

I'll add to this by saying Stay on defined back roads...don't go into full cactus smashing mode. You are saving tortoise who would be crushed while asleep in their burrow...

Always been a pack it in and pack it out hiker...most of our trash is from Illegals discarding crap on the trip from the boarder to Tucson...problem is that some of the stuff is disease ridden and requires tongs etc to pick up...

best,
Phil

Here's the full documentary from the trailer above. I've seen some areas (dump sites) like the one in the opening. It's sad that people have NO respect for our great land. :(

They did a great job on this video and it really shows how beautiful the desert is. There's some great off roading shots, nice trucks and off road vehicles in it too. It's not just about cleaning up the desert but the whole off road community too.
