Happy new owner of a 2022 Tremor Ranger that carried me from MT to Baja as my main Baja vehicle because it's smaller, would haul a 23' dual axel Airstream occasionally AND get me deep into the back cactus forests and beaches I spend time searching for in Baja. Please understand that I am not a gear head and use my rig to get to places others can't but generally not just to see if I can do it... I am learning so be gentle...

I loaded it all up for the drive from MT and am sure it was overloaded (1885 payload?) Sold the trailer so no worries there.

I carried roughly 2000-2200 lbs counting: (could be 200lb low): RSI topper, (450lb) 1/2 bed slide (75 lb) camping equip for 2, (150lb). fishing and sports gear ( 200lb) tools/rescure/jack/ramps/additional fuel (400 LB). 65 ICECO solar cooler with food, battery, panels ( 150 lb) water for 2- 10 days (250Lb). misc gear 400. Never had power problem or breaking issues.

After traversing over 600+ miles on dirt/sand/rocks/wash boards... I never hit the underside on rocks but did have issues with surprise compression bumps at speed. The rear rubber shock tower bumper showed a bit of wear but No "damage" . I read in a post that the tower bumpers could be changed out for a stiffer one and that I could also add rear leaf spring. Will new rear leaf springs raise/level it more than the thickness of the leaf spring and cause me to do the whole leveling deal (remove crash bar, adjust electronic sensors, alignment, new shocks...) Is adding aher nnot

What is the best solution to increase Payload: air bags, a lift kit with stiffer shocks or rebuild suspension.

I don't feel like leveling is the answer (based on what I have read it's mostly for looks) so can I add leaf spring without "leveling" or doing a major suspension change? Thx. New Guy!

The short of it is.....you can't.

All of those add ons will do nothing to increase your payload or the limit of the axles/frame/suspension/etc.

There are things you can do to make what you're doing more comfortable, but there is no magic pill to let you carry more weight.

I’d have to agree. There’s nothing you can do to increase the GVWR of a vehicle. The frame and other components have their limits.

You can add something like a helper leaf spring, Icon’s stiffer leaf springs, or SumoSprings so the truck can better support the weight without squatting. But shy of building the truck a heavier duty frame, suspension, and axles, nothing you do will actually increase that number.

As mentioned above, you cant really increase payload, however, I love airbags to level the squat when I have a load (insert potty humor here). Squatting can be dangerous (especially when towing) because most of your breaking strength and load is on the front axle, as well as causing lightness in steering effect. This is really hazardous when hauling a load if you need to maneuver quickly.

Add a leaf springs would be a cheap upgrade if you don't want to spend $500 on new leaf springs.

Timbren bump stops would work better than the current ones.

Air bags would be good for the times you've got the airstream on the back, doesn't help ya off-road though unless you want a stiff ride.

I am thankful for the thoughts understanding my dilemma. I need a bigger rig on a limited basis and enjoy the cost to operate the Ranger full time in Baja. I leave the F150 in MT where there is more room... Will look into the "add a leaf" plan and keep my eye on the bump stops. Hope everyone gets out and uses their rig for what it was intended.

Welcome to the forum @Footer, nice to have you onboard. Especially since you use it as a truck! =)

Those sound like great adventures and love your pics, you're living your best Ranger life!

LMRL? YORO?* =D

Others will have the answer to this, but would Footer benefit from those J-brace support things?

Not for added payload, but for potential issues with topper and above-rail weight?

Or do those only fit '24s and up?
