Hello,

Please help! My 2021 Tremor with 7,500 miles started to miss and buck with the check engine light flashing. Took it to the dealer and they said they were ordering an engine cover to solve the problem. I am just thinking what the hay..., how did water get into to my ignition system. BTW the engine cover is on National back order... However after they cleared the codes and cleared out the water it ran like new. I live in the far Western mountains of MD and it is winter here so within a few days I have no power and missing again especially under 2000 RPM. Noticeably way less power than last week after they cleared the codes and removed the water. Is this for real? How does water get into the engine? I did look up the Tech notice on my work order and it is TSB 21-2147. My concerns are will this truly solve my problems and does anyone have a similar situation and what are the long term problems that may occur. Thank you for your help!

We've had a few sideway rains in the last couple of weeks in western md. Did you park the ranger nose into the wind... I am garaged with a 2019 ...

Kevin,

There have been some cases where water/snow gets up around the plugs and past the boot where it freezes in a “well” around the plug and cracks the ceramic insulator. You may have a cracked plug. The TSB is to install an engine cover to prevent reoccurrence but, they still need to replace any cracked plugs or faulty boots.

Maybe they didn’t check the plugs and figured it was just the water they found.

Thanks for the tip. As of today they are still saying that they are waiting on the part!

Hi fellow MD, I do park my Ranger with the nose to the wind, but I have done that since I picked it up at the dealer last June. After they cleared the water out it was like the truck I remembered picking up with lots of power. Now after I picked it up from the dealer I'm noticing loss of power and low RPM missing. This was 3 days after picking it up. Maybe like DukeCanBuildit said there maybe more than just water, but it did rain between pickup and the problem came back.

Oh. I'm not qualified to help with engine issues, sorry.

But once it's fixed and if it ever does go missing, I'm happy to hop in my brand new (to me) 2021 Tremor with 7,500 miles and help you find it. What color is your truck? Asking for a friend.
