I have a 2020 Ford Ranger 2.3L I4 EcoBoost 4x4 XLT SuperCrew. Approximately one month ago, my air conditioner stopped working all together.

I thought this was strange for a 6 year old Ranger. I take exceptional care of my truck.

So I was certainly surprised when my mechanic's shop who specializes in air conditioning systems told me that I need a new air conditioner condenser.
It's going to cost $1,227 to have it replaced with a new one, recharged, put new seals in and the 3 hrs of labor.

Has this happened to anyone else with same year of Ranger???

I just want to see if it may be worth contacting Ford company to request that they fix it!!!

Thanks for your input and suggestions...

I’ve had to replace the a/c compressor in my 2021 Ranger because the clutch failed (I found one supplier that would sell the clutch itself, but the whole compressor on rock auto was the same price). It’s quite annoying that it failed because I only use it for 2-3month of the year.
Unfortunately you just have to accept the fact that stuff fails. Fix it and move on.

Did they say why the condensor is bad?

I'd imagine debris might have hit it and put a hole in it.

It's not far fetched for that to happen to a condenser.

Unless you have an extended warranty and it's not from road debris then yes It could be covered.

It you don't have extended warranty then no Ford won't cover it. It's 6 years old.
