I will be filling up today, however, I will be at around 350 miles on the truck. I'll check the mileage via calculator and compare to what my truck says. I will post that later.

I don't want to be the old guy on a Sunday drive that is holding up traffic on my way to work.... lol. And this thing is fun when the turbo kicks in....
It's more of a compromise than being a full on Sunday driver. I live in a pretty hilly area. I roll in and out of the throttle like there's a hard boiled egg between my foot and the pedal. I learned to do this in a previous older F-150 just to achieve 16 mpg vs the 13 mpg I was getting. I keep up with traffic no problems at all. I have never had any real problem achieving the rated mpg on any vehicle and sometimes have bested it significantly. The reality with any of the EcoBoost engines is you can have Eco or Boost, but the more of either one gives you less of the other. Some people complain about that, but I like the fact that I have the choice. The smaller turbo engines comparatively, will usually use more gas when pulling or hauling than a bigger counterpart due to requiring more boost. The 2.7 gets the same or worse mpg towing as the 3.5 etc. I really think the 2.7 would have easily gotten as good or better mpg as the 2.3 in everyday driving for most people and significantly better when hauling or towing. I'm not complaining about the 2.3. I think Ford has the best powertrain option in the mid size class. I think the 2.7 would have changed the class forever. Okay, I'm done rambling.....

800 miles on my 4x4 XLT Sport, averaging 19.5 for my daily commute to work in stop and go traffic. Hoping it gets better.
I think another thing that impacts mileage that I've seen is the duration of trips. A lot of short trips with the truck not warming up fully will very much hurt the mileage. My first tank in my 2WD XL, STX was 18.5 reading and 18 actual. Since then I've gotten a range between 19.5 and 22. I now have 2200 miles on it. My commute which is a mix of highway and mostly traffic on these highways consistently has been netting me 19.5-21 (actual with the dash just a bit higher) compared to my 2008 GMC Canyon with the3 2.9 4 banger and 4 speed auto which got 16.5-17.5 under the same conditions. So. roughly a 3 MPG bump.

What I've noticed is that first thing in the morning the mileage will go down if the dash is reading MPG higher than say 19 but once the gauge gets to normal the mileage starts going back up again. Many short trips really impact the mileage especially if it's had time to cool off too much.

Given the 3 MPG jump and the fun factor of this truck, I'm happy. I don't drive it hard as I mostly try to be smooth on the gas but then I don't miss an opportunity to get on it if I'm needing to pass someone doing something stupid which in the San Jose area is a multi time a day activity.

The 4.0 v6 was a great engine for its time.

But it was a gas hog. I was lucky to get 17 with mine.

I’m on my first 300 miles and all with 295/55/20 Nitto Terra Grapplers and a 3.5” lift and I’m averaging 19.5mpg on 91 fuel.

My wife drives 25 miles to work. Mainly 55/60 Mph. Gunner just switched to 23 Mpg on 86. We bought it June 16th, currently 1800 miles. Thats only on the beach once though. We are doing all 91 now, it's worth the extra 40 cents ... to me atleast

Just got back last night with my new Ranger. Drove 1800 miles to get home. All highway driving 75-82mph got 20-22mpg. 20mpg was driving 80-82 and got 22 when driving closer to 75mph.

Based on my experience, it seems that 89 is the best value. Around here, 89 generally costs 30 cents more than 87 and 93 costs 40 cents more than 89.

87: 2.43 x 18 = 43.74 Dollars @ 20.5 MPG
89: 2.73 x 18 = 49.14 Dollars @ 23.5 MPG
93: 3.13 x 18 = 56.34 Dollars @ 26 MPG

87: 20.5 x 18 = 369 MPT
89: 23.5 x 18 = 414 MPT
93: 26 x 18 = 468 MPT

87: 369/43.74 = 8.44 MPD
89: 414/49.14 = 8.61 MPD
93: 468/56.34 = 8.31 MPD

Even if 93 were 30 cents more than 89, it looks like 89 would still edge it out.
93: 3.03 x 18 = 54.54 Dollars @ 26 MPG
93: 468/54.54 = 8.58 MPD

Bear in mind, these MPG numbers are rough estimates based off of my recollection and are not scientific.

Just made a run from where I live to Princeton WV about a 180 round trip with lots of up hill pulling and running between 75 and 80mph I got 23mpg and I couldn't be happier. And that's figuring it manually.
