A common mistake, but the Ranger does not have front struts, they are coil over shocks. A common and easy way to get a little lift in the front is with Eibach Pro Truck shocks. They are adjustable from 0 - 3" of lift. I went with 1.5" and am super happy.

Correction. They are struts. Both struts and coil over shocks are more or less the same, but yet a little different and I will explain.

For starters the OEM uses Struts. These are used to support and control the vehicle at the same time. Depending on the suspension design(usually found in cars and some SUV's) the Strut may have a Bearing built-in to the top hat to allow it to pivot for steering.

A Coilover Strut/Shock is very similar in function, but has a few differences including exterior look. The biggest difference is the ability to change the height of the spring perch. This can be for a number of reasons including changing the spring preload or accommodating different springs and vehicle applications if the vehicles use a similar Strut/Shock. Last but not least a Coilover may have the ability to adjust the the Dampening in different ways(usually between 1-3 on most. Some higher end Struts and Shocks can have way more for Racing Applications).

Yes, did the rears myself and loved the results.
What did you set the rears at? (according to the website the eibach rears are also adjustable)

No offense, but a correction is usually issued by someone correcting themself.
By your definition, the Ranger has coil overs rather than struts. There are no steering functions and you can technically remove the shock and the vehicle will remain supported by the coil. With a strut, you can't remove anything and still have the vehicle supported. The strut has the shock damper, spring mounts/purchases, steering pivot built in, where the Ranger's shock, coil and steering components are completely separate.
Also, vehicles equipped with struts are extremely limited as to ride height and range of travel adjustment, a benefit of coil overs vs. struts.

Per https://www.monroe.com/technical-resources/shocks-101/shocks-vs-struts.html

"Typically, struts consist of a strut housing to provide rigid structural support for the assembly and a damping unit within the strut housing to control spring and suspension movement. On most struts, the bottom of the body attaches to the steering knuckle, which in turn connects to a lower control arm through a lower ball joint.

A complete strut assembly includes all the components needed for strut replacement in a single, fully-assembled unit. It combines the strut housing, damping unit with a coil spring to support the vehicle's weight."

Also:
https://www.shocksurplus.com/blogs/shocks-101/shocks-vs-struts-vs-coilovers

"Coilovers are typically reserved for performance level vehicles, where height or dampening requirements call for a more finely tuned setup. A coilover combines the abilities of a strut, with the damping of a shock, and allows the entire assembly to be installed as a single unit, rather than tearing down the vehicle's coil springs, mounts, struts, etc all separately."
