Packards were built in Brighton MA. I lived across the street from the building they were built in. It was recommissioned by Mack trucks for a repair depot. Probably condos by now. Guy that worked for me years ago had one he was restoring. His name was Brian Packard! Lol He works for Sig inNew Hampshire now. Got a nice pistol through him
Packards were also built at "Plant 10" in Detroit. The 3.5M sq ft building sat vacant for decades after Packard-Studebaker folded. A developer bought it in 2017, but now looks like it will be partially or totally demolished.

The first "Ute"...

...and the last: 2016 Ford Falcon Ute

Turbo inline six was available. The asphalt is always blacker on the other side of the Jersey Wall... or something like that...

It was actually a "Mercury" Pantera, sold exclusively by Lincoln/Mercury dealers.
Actually it was the De Tomaso Pantera and was sold by Ford at it's Lincoln/Mercury dealers. The car in the OP photo isn't a Pantera though. Maybe a Lamborghini or Maserati.

The Brighton building was a huge Packard dealership. It's in a part of town called Automobile Row where each of the auto makers had dealerships that built massive buildings.

Look at the add from back then! We spend that on trinkets for our trucks! You could have bought a whole car!

Mack! I didn't look it up, but I did zoom the photo and revealed the Bulldog & "Mack" script on the hood.

All this Packard talk made me want to read more about them; they started off as an ultra-luxury car that was $2950 at the same time Ford was $500.

Like I said, guy I worked with at one point bought 2 of them to make one fully restored. The thing that got me the most was the gauge of steel that was used on the body. The thing was a tank! I have never seen such heavy gauge material used like that before.

Somehow it's hideous, and beautiful at the same time.

We had a Studabaker plant in my hometown, Hamilton, Ontario. It closed in 1963, I wasn't born til 71.

When I first started working at my family bodyshop 20-odd years ago, there were still two old-timers who could fill dents with lead on those old cars. Always fun to watch them work.

I knew one like that long ago. Cigar in mouth and would say Bondo is for hacks. Lead is the only way to go!
